COMBUSTIBLE OVERHEAD
PROTECTION KIT
(For built-in gas grills only)
INSTALLER: Leave these instructions with consumer. CONSUMER: Retain for future reference.

This protection kit meets the RHP requirement when a Fire Magic / AOG grill is installed 6' below an overhead combustible construction.
Note: A vent hood is not required if this kit is used.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Installation must be performed by a qualified professional service technician.
INSTALLATION REQUIRES TWO OR MORE PEOPLE. EXERCISE EXTREME CARE DURING INSTALLATION.
Read these instructions and the safety and installation sections of the grill owner's manual before beginning this protection kit installation.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS
Overhead construction:
Any combustible overhead contruction must be a minimum of 6 feet above the grill countertop. This clearance must include any additional material used for mounting and/or covering the protection kit. See Fig. 1-1 and the INSTALLATION section of this instruction for details.

Measure your grill oven hood from left to right. Add 10”. This calculation should be equal to or less than the number found in the appropriate kit model.
Example: Grill width 30"+10"= 40". KIT: 42-COPK.

Any combustible overhead construction must

Rear wall:
The rear wall must be constructed of non-combustible material and must be between 4-6" from the rear of the
grill. See Fig. 1-1.

PROTECTION KIT ASSEMBLY (if applicable)
The 36-COPK protection kit comes fully-assembled and is ready to install. All other protection kits require the following assembly:
1. Orient and align the 5 holes on each panel as shown

in Fig. 2-1. Using a Philips screwdriver and an
/32" wrench, fasten the panels together with the supplied bolts, lock washers, and nuts.
INSTALLATION
All additional installation requirements, safety guidelines, and any other requirements found in your grill owner's manual MUST BE FOLLOWED.
Note: Fully covering the area above the protection kit is
recommended to prevent any water build-up from rain.
1. Ensure the protection kit is centered over the grill (from left to right) and the rear of the protection kit is resting against the rear wall (see Fig. 2-2). Mark your overhead construction as needed.
2. Using proper mounting hardware (not included), secure the protection kit into the overhead construction.
Important: If any combustible material is used to support
and/or cover the protection kit, there must be a 6' clearance between the combustible construction and the countertop. See the CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS section on the front of this instruction.
