INSTALLER: Leave these instructions with consumer.
CONSUMER: Retain for future reference.

The charcoal basket adds the versatility of charcoal cooking
to your gas grill. The basket comes in two pieces and is simple
to assemble and easy to use.

1. Place the metal grid inside the basket frame (Fig. 1-1).

Note: Some distortion to the metal grid may occur during

cooling after use. This is normal and will not affect the
effi ciency of the basket during use.

2. Remove the cooking grid and fl avor grid from the burner
where you wish to set the charcoal basket.

CAUTION: If the grill is in use, turn off the gas to burners

& use heat-resistant gloves.

3. Place the charcoal basket such that it rests on the burner(s)

in place of the fl avor grid (Fig. 1-2 and reverse side).

4. Place the charcoal onto the assembled metal grid (Fig. 2-3).

Note: You may also use wood chunks.

Important: When piling charcoal, a 3/4" clearance below

the cooking grid must be maintained.

WARNING: The R.H. Peterson Charcoal Basket is designed

and engineered to be used with plain charcoal.
The use of quick-light charcoal is unnecessary
and could be dangerous.

basket on burner(s).

5. Replace the cooking grid back on the grill.

6. Ignite the burners under the charcoal basket as normal,

turn to HI, and leave until the charcoal remains lit without
application of fl ame from the burners (7-10 minutes).

Note: Keep the oven hood open until ready to cook.

7. When the charcoal is generating even heat and ready

for cooking, use the oven hood as normal.

8. After use (when the unit has cooled down and the coals
are dead), remove the charcoal basket from the grill
and empty the ash from the ash retainer into a fi reproof
container. Clean off burners and ignitors as needed.

Important: Observe all safety cautions, warnings, and

notes in your grill instructions, and all warnings
supplied with your charcoal.

The Fire Magic charcoal basket is designed to be used on
any Fire Magic grill (Aurora / Echelon shown here).

For Aurora / Echelon grills; align the basket cutouts
over the burner supports as shown in Fig. 2-2.
