FOR UNITS WITH REMOTE SYSTEMS
Most Firegear burner systems ar e capable of operation with a latching solenoid, remote control system. See the instructions, packaged with the remote system that you have purchased, for detailed installation and operational characteristics. The following instructions are a general guide for installation only.
Label all wires prior to disc onnection when servicing controls. Wiring errors can cause improper and dangerous oper ation. Verify proper operation after servic ing.
Most Firegear Vented Burner Systems us e:
1- The American Flame, AF-1000 Series Valves ( AF-1010 shown
here with remote solenoid shown s eparately in diagram ). All
systems us e a safety pilot, with a thermocouple.
( SEE FIGURE 27 & 28 )

systems:
A- FG-LT2 On/off hand held remote B- FG-WS-LT W all switch – hard wired remote C- FG-WW S-LT Wall switch – wireless remote D- FG-WW T-LT W all timer – wireless remote E- FG-LMF/M Variable Flame remote
NOTE: The FG-AF1000S Latching Solenoid is necessary for operation with any of the above remot e systems.
CONNECTING THE RECEIVER TO THE VALVE
NOTE:
For extended, remote applications, extension wire ( not
included ) will be necessary for your distance run.
1- The wire harness should already be installed, in the terminal
block, on the rear of the remote receiver.

2- Connect the BLACK 18 gauge wire, with the 1/4" female terminal,
from the receiver, to the BLACK wire with the 1/4" male terminal,
from the valve solenoid. 3- Connect the RED 18 gauge wire, with the 1/4" female terminal,
from the receiver, to the RED wire with the 1/4” male terminal,
from the valve solenoid. 4- After receiver wires are c onnected to the valve solenoid wires,
make sur e the receiver shield is located over the receiver, and
then locate the r eceiver in an area that will not exceed the 130° F,
preferably outside the firebox, on the fireplace hearth.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
which wire is attached to which terminal. If operation does not correspond to operating buttons on the transmitter, reverse the wire installation at the rec eiver, or at the transmitter. ( SEE FIGURE 30, 31, 33, & 34 )

FOR YOUR SAFETY – READ BEFORE LIGHTING
!!! WARNING !!!
Do not use this appliance if any part has been under water. Immediately call a qualified service technician t o inspect the appliance, and replace any part of the control system and any gas c ontrol that has been under water.
All units with gas control valves, must be lit by a Safety Pilot. For standard units, pilot is located at the right, rear center of the unit. ( SEE FIGURE 4, 5, 24, & 25 )
Follow these instructions exactly when lighting the appliance. BEFORE LIGHTING, smell around the applianc e area for gas. Be sure to smell next to the floor, as LP gas is heavier than air and will settle to the floor. Use only your hand to rotate the gas control knob. Never use tools. If the knob will not turn by hand, do not try to repair it; call qualified servic e technician or installer. Force or attempted repair, may result in a fire or explosion.
!!! WARNING !!!
All gas burning applianc es produce smoke and carbon monoxide gas during operation. These fumes c an be harmful if the appliance is used in any other than a fully vented fireplace.
!!! WARNING !!!
A fireplace screen must be in place when this applianc e is in operation. Unless other provisions for combustion air are provided, the screen shall have an opening(s) f or introduction of combustion air.
!!! WARNING !!!
When this decorative gas appliance is used in a fireplace equipped with a combustion air kit and glass doors, the glass doors should remain open during log set operation. This will maximize the radiant heat provided to the surrounding area, and minimize overheating of any valve installation. The glass doors may be closed when the log set is not in use.
