INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS CAUTION: Do not use the EvapoMist™ in a down-flow furnace (the type where
the heated air output is from the bottom of the furnace).
1. Select a location for your EvapoMist™ humidifier so that it will derive the most benefit from the normal air flow of the heating system. Care should be taken to install the unit in the area of highest air velocity and away from any turns in the heating system where turbulence can reduce evaporation. In installations where more than one humidifier is used, do not place them in a position where one obstructs the air flow to the other. (See Figure 1)
2. Hold the mounting bracket against the plenum or duct where the unit is to be installed making sure that it is level. Scribe marks for the six holes and a line around the inside opening. (See Figure 2) Scribe a radius at each of the bottom corners of the opening so that the cut-out will fit the bottom contour of the pan (a corner of the mounting bracket may be used as a guide).
3. Drill or punch the six mounting holes to a diameter of 3/32". Also, make a hole inside of the area scribed around the bracket opening. Using this hole as a starting point, cut closely along the line with tin snips (aviation or duck-billed snips are preferable but not necessary).
4. Fasten the mounting bracket in place with the six sheet metal screws furnished.
5. Slide the pan into the mounting bracket, notched end first, and fasten as follows:
a. Place lock washers onto machine screws and insert the screws
through the slots in the mounting bracket and into the pan,
b. Place fiber washers over the ends of the screws and loosely
thread on nuts
c. Level the pan from front to back and tighten the screws.

6. Insert evaporator plates in place starting at the rear of the pan. Up to ten plates may be used.
7. To install the saddle valve: (See Figure 3)
CAUTION: Do not turn handle before or while installing the "saddle tapping valve." be sure the piercing lance does not protrude beyond the rubber gasket. Failure to do this may result in damage to the piercing needle.
NOTE: Do not install saddle valve on any water pipe which is downstream from a water softener.
a. Assemble the "saddle tapping valve" on copper tube with
enclosed bolt and nuts. b. Tighten bolts evenly and firmly. Brackets should be parallel. c. Make the water connection to the outlet of the "saddle tapping
valve" and to the inlet of the EvapoMist™ humidifier. Use an
Figure 3
insert, compression sleeve, and compression nut at both
locations. d. Turn the handle clockwise until you feel it is firmly seated.
NOTE: You have now pierced the copper tube and the valve is closed. NOTE: See saddle valve assembly package for additional installation instructions.
8. Turn on the water and open the saddle valve to check the entire system for leaks. Some tightening may be required but care should be taken not to overtighten small fittings.
9. When the humidifier installation is satisfactorily completed, install the inspection cover. If the humidifier is installed on a slanting surface the inspection cover must be bent to the angle which the pan makes with the mounting bracket.
10. Maintenance instructions can be found on the EvapoMist™ cover plate.
