It is the responsibility of users to qualify third-party motors with the matching
mechanical interface for the combination.
You can find out which third-party motors are suitable from your local Festo contact partner or from èwww.festo.com/sp.
2.3 Qualification of specialized personnel
Mounting only by qualified personnel.
1 Applicable documents
All available documents for the product èwww.festo.com/pk.
Observe further applicable documents:
– Motor instruction manual
– Axis instruction manual
2 Safety
2.1 Safety instructions
– Only assemble the product on components that are in a condition to be safely
operated.
– Clean shafts. The coupling hubs[1] grip without slipping only on dry and
grease-free drive shafts.
– Observe proper alignment of the coupling hubs[1]
è 5.1.4 Coupling alignment.
– Support the combination è 5.2.1 Supporting the axis-motor combination:
– if there are far-protruding or heavy motor attachments
– if there are severe vibrations or oscillation/shock loads
– Perform a homing procedure each time after disconnecting or turning the
motor.
– Select required mounting components. The kit contains all the mounting com-
ponents that may be required.
– Observe tightening torques. Unless otherwise specified, the tolerance
is±20%. è 7 Technical data.
2.2 Intended use
2.2.1 Usage
Connecting an axis to a motor in axial configuration to the driven shaft.
2.2.2 Permissible axes and motors
NOTICE!
Overloading can cause malfunction and material damage.
The motor’s output variables must not exceed the permissible values of the components used.
Permissible values èwww.festo.com/catalogue.
• Limit the motor’s output variables accordingly.
• Derive the axis and motor from the interface codes.
Example: EAMM-A-V25-40P
V25: axis interface
40P: motor interface

The reducing sleeves[30] are required with EAMM-A-...-60PA.
Inserting the reducing sleeves
Fig. 3 Insert reducing sleeves
• Insert reducing sleeves[30] into the mounting holes of the motor.

5.1.2 Preassembly of the coupling
Pushing on the elastomer star
Fig. 4 Push on elastomer star
1. Place elastomer star[19] on the coupling hub[1].
2. Screw on clamping screw[2].
Pushing on the coupling hub, motor side
Fig. 5 Push on the coupling hub, motor side
• Push coupling hub[1] with the matching drill hole onto the drive shaft[C].
Alignment of the coupling hub, motor side
1. Push motor and axis together completely. Pay attention to the correct relative
position of the coupling hubs[1].
There is no gap between motor and coupling housing[5].
Ä
2. Fasten the motor to the coupling housing[10] using the screws[5].
5.1.4 Coupling alignment
NOTICE!
Axial forces on the shafts of motor and axis.
Axial forces result in failure of the encoder/brake or increased wear.
• Maintain distances.
Alignment of the coupling hub
Fig. 9 Align coupling hub
1. Measure dimension X from the flat surface of the coupling housing[5] to the
cam base of the axis-side coupling hub[1].
2. Calculate motor side dimension Y=X−Z è Tab. 3.
3. Adjust motor side coupling hub[1] to dimension Y±0.3mm.
Fig. 6 Align coupling hub, motor side
1. Observe distance(Y) è 5.1.4 Coupling alignment.
2. Tighten motor-side clamping screw[2].
5.1.3 Motor and axis connection
Mounting of the coupling housing
Fig. 7 Mounting of the coupling housing
1. Place coupling housing[5] onto the centring collar of the axis.
Anti-twist pin[M] of the axis latches into the drill hole of the coupling
Ä
housing[5].
2. Fasten coupling housing[5] with the threaded pins[18] into the V-slot of the
centring collar.
Exception: for EAMM-A-V32-42A/42AB the coupling housing[5] is fastened to the
motor first with the screws[10].
