About the Ferno Walk Belt
The Ferno Walk Belt has been purpose designed for paramedics and emergency healthcare professionals
to assist patients while walking.
The Ferno Walk Belt secures around a patient’s waist and is tted with eight handles − four horizontal and four vertical handles − as well as
two leg straps that are designed to strengthen the Walk Belt when used to stabilise unsteady patients. The Walk Belt substantially reduces
the eort required by the operator to assist a patient whilst walking. The Ferno Walk Belt can be machine washed and reused repeatedly.

Fitting and Using the Walk Belt
1. Release the waist belt buckle and wrap the Walk Belt around the
patient’s waist. Clip the buckle together, and further adjust the
belt strap so the Walk Belt ts closely against the patient’s body.

Ferno Walk Belt
2. Release the left leg strap buckle. Wrap the long left leg strap
around the back of the left leg to the front of the leg via the groin
area and re-connect the buckle (Figures 2 and 3). Adjust straps if
required, for a snug and comfortable t.
3. Repeat Step 2 with the right leg strap.
4. Once the Walk Belt is securely fastened to the patient, the operator
can use any of the vertical or horizontal hand holds (Figures 4 and
5) to assist the patient while walking.
NOTICE
The leg straps must be tted to the patient if the patient is
to be moved from either a standing-to-sitting position or
vice versa. The leg straps are designed to support the patient
during these manoeuvres and keeps the Walk Belt in its
original tted position.
WARNING
The leg straps are not designed or rated to take the
patient’s entire weight. Do not use the Walk Belt as a
lifting harness.
Inspections
Inspect the Walk Belt to ensure it is t for duty before stowing it
away. An Inspection Check List is provided as a guide. Refer any
signs of deterioration to a competent or designated person for a
decision on the safety and serviceability of the product.

Cleaning
This product should be cleaned regularly to maintain its safety and
serviceability.
1. Brush o loose dirt.
2. Spray on a cleaning solution (bleach-based solutions are not
recommended).
3. Use a soft bristle brush to clean.
4. Allow cleaning solution to soak into the webbing.
5. Hand or machine wash up to 40° Celcius.
6. Air dry in a well ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.
Storage
Store the product away from direct sunlight, excessive dust and
moisture, and corrosive atmospheres.
