F e n d e r®`65 Twin Reverb
®
Your "new" ‘65 Twin Reverb®amplifier is living
proof of the quality and longevity of Fender
amplifier designs. Over the years, many
musicians have found the versatile Twin Reverb
a perfect match for guitar, bass guitar,
keyboards, vocals, accordion, and the electric
violin among others. Featuring REVERB and
VIBRATO, this two-channel amplifier has been
used on thousands of re c o rdings and
countless live performances since 1954 when
the first version appeared on the music scene.
Your new ‘65 Twin Reverb is a faithful
reproduction of an original 1965 Twin Reverb
model AB 763. Every effort has been made to
keep the circuitry exactly like the original. For
i m p roved reliability and manufacturing
e ff i c i e n c y, a printed circuit board for the
components is used in place of the original
t r a n s f o rmers used in the 85-watt
‘ 6 5 Tw i n Reverb are built to the original
specifications and although some components
used in this re-issue amplifier are different in
size and shape from the earlier version, the
component values are identical. The speakers
in the ‘65 Twin Reverb are duplicates of the
original Jensen 12-inch "Specially Designed for
Fender" speakers used for many years during
the 1960s.
It is suggested you read this manual thoroughly
to understand all the features and functions of
the amplifier. The purchase of a Fender
amplifier will provide years of musical
enjoyment and the ‘65 Twin Reverb helps keep
the Fender legacy going strong.
NORMAL CHANNEL (A-F)
A. INPUTS - Plug-in connections for
instruments.
B. BRIGHT - This switch provides an extra boost
to the high-frequency range.
C. VOLUME - Adjusts the loudness of the
amplifier.
D. TREBLE - Adjusts the high-frequency signal
level.
E. MIDDLE - Adjusts the mid-frequency signal
level.
F. BASS - Adjusts the low-frequency signal level.
NOTES
• {A and G} Both INPUTS “1” provide +6dB gain
more than INPUTS “2.”
• {B and H} The BRIGHT tone boost is more
noticeable at lower VOLUME settings.
• {D-F and J-L} If either group of TONE controls
is turned fully counter-clockwise there will be no
sound from that CHANNEL.
• {M-O} REVERB and VIBRATO affect only the
VIBRATO CHANNEL.
• {J} The VIBRATO CHANNEL provides more
TREBLE boost than the NORMAL CHANNEL.
VIBRATO CHANNEL (G-O)
G. INPUTS - Plug-in connections for instruments.
H. BRIGHT - This switch provides an extra boost to
the high-frequency range.
I. VOLUME - Adjusts the loudness of the amplifier.
J. TREBLE - Adjusts the high-frequency signal level.
K. MIDDLE - Adjusts the mid-frequency signal level.
L. BASS - Adjusts the low-frequency signal level.
M. REVERB - Adjusts the REVERB effect level. Switch
OFF the REVERB effect by turning this knob fully
counter-clockwise. The FOOTSWITCH can also be
used to switch ON/OFF the REVERB effect.
N SPEED - Adjusts the rate of the VIBRATO effect.
The VIBRATO effect will not function without the
FOOTSWITCH plugged in.
O. INTENSITY - Adjusts the intensity of the VIBRATO
effect. Switch OFF the VIBRATO effect by turning
this knob fully counter-clockwise. The
FOOTSWITCH can also be used to switch ON/OFF
the VIBRATO effect.
P. POWER INDICATOR - Illuminates when the

Center.
C . POWER SWITCH - Push UP to switch ON the amplifier.
Push DOWN to switch OFF the amplifier.
D. STANDBY SWITCH - Push DOWN to put the amplifier
into STANDBY mode. Push UP to put the amplifier into

Tube Adjustments
The tube BALANCE and BIAS of your ‘65 Twin Reverb is adjusted at the factory and should
provide years of service before needing attention. If the sound quality of the amp has degraded
noticeably and HUM BALANCE and BIAS adjustments fail to restore sound quality, the tubes
are worn and need replacement. Note that pre-amplifier tubes last longer than output tubes. If
you are not sure about the condition of your tubes or the following procedures, take your
amplifier to an authorized Fender Service Center.
FIG. 1
A. HUM BALANCE ADJUSTMENT - This adjustment minimizes the hum heard at the speakers
due to tube filament imbalance. Balance is usually adjusted only when tubes have been
replaced. •Adjustment Instructions: Turn the amplifier ON for 2 minutes with nothing
plugged into any of the INPUTS. Rotate the VIBRATO CHANNEL volume, middle, and bass
knobs fully clockwise and the treble knob fully counter-clockwise. Rotate ALL of the
NORMALCHANNEL knobs fully counter-clockwise. Switch OFF the REVERB and VIBRATO
effects. Then insert a slotted screwdriver into the BALANCE ADJUSTMENT control, (see
“A” in FIG. 1) and rotate back and forth to the position with the least amount of hum.
B . BIAS ADJUSTMENT - This adjustment only should be made if the output tubes are
replaced with tubes not identical to the original tubes and should be adjusted only by an
authorized Fender Service Center.
OPERATING mode and also increases tube life span.
The POWER switch {C} must be ON for the STANDBY
switch to function.
E. MAIN SPEAKER JACK - Plug-in connection for
speakers. A speaker must always be connected at this
jack when the amplifier is ON.
F. EXTERNAL SPEAKER JACK - Plug-in connection for
an external speaker. This jack is wired in parallel with
the MAIN SPEAKER JACK {E}. A total speaker
impedance load of 4-ohms should be used to avoid
damage to the amplifier.
G. FOOTSWITCH JACK - Plug-in connection for the
FOOTSWITCH which enables ON/OFF switching of the
VIBRATO and REVERB effects. The VIBRATO effect
will not function without the FOOTSWITCH plugged in.
Replace tubes with identical F e n d e r® original equipment only (see SPECIFICATIONS below). Tube location is printed on the tube label, inside the cabinet.
