I. GENERAL.
This instruction sheet provides directions for installation of the Federal Raydian™ series warning system on a vehicle roof. A vehicle-specific mounting hook is purchased separately and is required to complete the warning system installation.
II. UNPACKING.
The Raydian lightbar has the mounting brackets pre-positioned for mounting on the Ford Crown Victoria. If the light assembly will be mounted on a Crown Victoria, skip steps A and C.
A. Loosen the 3/8-16 hex nuts sufficiently to allow the mounting brackets to be adjusted in and out to fit the roof of the vehicle. If the Raydian is being installed on a vehicle with a steep forward slope roof, like the Chevy Impala, install the wedges between the HotFoot and the bottom extrusion of the lightbar on the forward track as shown in figures 1 and 2.
B. Place the Raydian lightbar on the vehicle roof at the desired location. Usually the unit should be installed so that the mounting hooks attach at, or immediately behind, the door center post.
C. Adjust both mounting brackets in or out until the rubber mounting pads rest near the edge of the roof, or gutter, where the roof is most rigid. Center the unit so that the end of the assembly and edge of the roof are equidistant on each side of the vehicle.
IMPORTANT
After unpacking the light bar, carefully check all
envelopes, shipping labels, and tags before removing or
Plan all cable routing before completing the
installation.

Turn the lightbar assembly over so that the bottom of the unit faces up. Tighten the 3/8-16 hex nuts (four on each mounting bracket) to 20 lb-ft. Place the light assembly on the vehicle’s roof in the previously determined position.
E. To fasten the mounting hook and complete the installation, refer to the Vista hook hardware kit instruction sheet (Federal Part No. 2561635) that is included in the supplied Vista hook hardware kit.

VI. BASIC MAINTENANCE.
A. Cleaning the Plastic Domes.
Ordinary cleaning of the plastic domes can be accomplished by using mild soap and a soft rag. Should fine scratches or a haze appear on a lens, they can best be removed with a specialty plastic cleaner/polish such as Plexus® and a soft cloth. Alternatively, non-abrasive, high quality, one-step, automotive past cleaner/wax may be used.
CAUTION
The use of other materials such as strong detergents, solvents, petroleum products, etc.can cause crazing (cracking) of the plastic domes.
B. Halogen Lamp Replacement.
WARNING
6. Remove the lamp from the housing and
disconnect it from the lamp connector.
7. Insert the new lamp into connector and
reassemble in the reverse order.
NOTE
To reinstall the lamp-retaining ring, insert one end of the ring into the groove. Press down around the circumference until the ring is inserted into the groove.
