Your radio might cause TV or radio interference even when it is operating properly. To determine whether your radio is causing the interference, turn it off. If the interference goes away, your radio is causing it. Try to eliminate the interference by moving your radio away

from the receiver. If you cannot eliminate the interference, the FCC requires that you stop using the radio.
Do not operate the radio in hazardous environments. Explosion or fire may result. Do not operate the radio near unshielded
electrical blasting caps. Under certain conditions, radios can interfere with blasting operations and may cause an explosion. Turn your radio OFF to prevent accidental transmission when in a blasting area or in areas posted: Turn off two-way radio. Construction crews often use remote control RF devices to set off explosives.
e and Safety: To clean the radio, use a soft cloth
Car dampened with water. Do not use cleaners or solvents because they can harm the body of the unit and leak inside, causing permanent damage. Use a dry, lint-free cloth to clean the battery contacts. Do not submerge the unit in water. If the unit gets wet, turn it off and remove the batteries immediately. Dry the battery compartment with a soft cloth to minimize potential water damage. Leave the battery compartment cover off overnight to ensure complete drying. Do not use the radio until the unit is completely dry.

Congratulations on your purchase of the Uniden FRS1200 series family radio. This product is a lightweight, palm-sized radio you can carry almost anywhere. Use it at shopping malls, amusement parks, or sporting events to stay in contact with family and friends, or in a neighborhood watch for vital communication. This compact, state-of-the­art device is equipped with the following features:

Optional Accessories
Your package contains the FRS1200 series radio, this reference guide and the accompanying belt clip. You will need to purchase 3 AA Alkaline batteries in order to operate the unit. You may also purchase the optional carrying case from your Uniden dealer or by calling (800)554-3988:

Battery Installation
Your FRS1200 series radio uses 3 AA Alkaline batteries for power.
To install the batteries:
1. Make sure your radio is off.
Do not mix old and new batteries to avoid damage to the unit.
2. Unlatch the clip and slide the battery cover off.
3. Insert 3 AA batteries according to the polarity symbols on the inside of the battery compartment.

4. Replace the battery cover by pushing it up until it is secure, then latch the clip in place.
Low Battery Alert
When the batteries in the unit are low, the unit will emit a chirping sound. Replace the batteries immediately to continue using the radio.

Belt Clip Installation
Because you will most likely use your radio when you are out and about, the unit comes equipped with a belt clip to securely fasten the unit to your belt, pocket or purse.
To attach the belt clip:
1. Insert the belt clip screw into the slot on the belt clip.
2. Align the screw with the hole on the back of the radio and turn it clockwise, using a Phillips screwdriver to secure the belt clip.
Do not over-tighten.

3. The belt clip can be attached so that it rests vertically or horizontally. Turn the screw counter­clockwise to loosen the belt clip and change its position.

Using Your Radio
In order to get the most out of your new radio, read this reference guide completely before attempting to operate the unit.
Turning the Radio On
1. Turn the

Choosing a Channel
Your radio has 2 channels you can use to talk to others. In order to speak to someone, each of you must be set to the same channel.
To choose a channel for the FRS1200 series:
1. Locate the channel selector switch at the top of the unit.

Talking on Your Radio
To talk to others using the radio:
1. Press and hold the
PTT
button and speak into the microphone. The

Tone Alert for Incoming Calls
Your FRS1200 series radio is equipped with a call feature which informs you of an incoming call. A call tone will sound when someone in your party is trying to reach you.
To use this feature to contact someone in your party, press the

Problem Solution
Limited talk range
Street/concrete structures, heavy
foliage and use in buildings and in vehicles will decrease range. Check for clear line of sight to improve transmission.
Wearing the radio close to the
body, such as in a pocket or on a belt will decrease range. Change the location of radio.
Heavy static or interference
Radios are too close. Radios must
be at least 5 feet apart. Increase your distance.
Radios are too far apart.
Obstacles interfere with transmission. Talk range is up to 2 miles in clear, unobstructed conditions.

WARRANTOR: UNIDEN AMERICA CORPORATION (“Uniden”)
ELEMENTS OF WARRANTY: Uniden warrants, for one year, to the original retail owner, this Uniden Product to be free from defects in materials and craftsmanship with only the limitations or exclusions set out below.
WARRANTY DURATION: This warranty to the original user shall terminate and be of no further effect 12 months after the date of original retail sale. The warranty is invalid if the Product is (A) damaged or not maintained as reasonable or necessary, (B) modified, altered, or used as part of any conversion kits, subassemblies, or any configurations not sold by Uniden, (C) improperly installed, (D) serviced or repaired by someone other than an authorized Uniden service center for a defect or malfunction covered by this warranty, (E) used in any conjunction with equipment or parts or as part of any system not manufactured by Uniden, or (F) installed or programmed by anyone other than as detailed by the owner’s manual for this product.
STATEMENT OF REMEDY: In the event that the product does not conform to this warranty at any time while this warranty is in effect, warrantor will either, at its option, repair or replace the defective unit and return it to you without charge for parts, service, or any other cost (except shipping and handling) incurred by warrantor or its representatives in connection with the performance of this warranty.
