NOTE: These 2 models of hitches install identically. There are only small differences in the hitch
components themselves
NOTE: 2011 Tri Glides vary slightly from early ’11 models to models made after April 2011. See
hardware packet enclosed with kit and additional instructions in this booklet.

1. On the underside of all Tri-Glides under the trunk area, there are 4 bolts threaded into existing holes on
two cross bar channels. Remove these bolts to free up the threaded holes for use in mounting your FBI Hitch. These bolts are typically torx headed bolts and are inserted with loc-tite and as such are sometimes difficult to remove. See instructions on the following page for information regarding installation on Late 2011 models.
2. Locate the main hitch assembly (without receiver, ball, etc. for now), the 4 5/16”-18x1 bolts, flat washers
and split washers included with the kit. Prepare to apply red loc-tite onto these bolts during installation.
3. Raise the hitch assembly into place, line the holes in the hitch up with holes in the under-carriage and insert bolts (with red loc-tite on them) with washers. Just tighten bolts to snug momentarily. NOTE: It is usually best to raise the hitch assembly into place and use a C-Clamp, or similar method to hold the unit in place while you insert the bolts.
4. Step back to inspect the hitch installation to be sure that all is square and centered. If not, adjust accordingly.
5. After inspection, tighten all bolts. It is recommended that you torque bolts to 20 ft/lbs.
6. Install hitch ball onto receiver then insert receiver into socket of hitch assembly. Use provided hitch pin
to secure receiver into hitch assembly.
7. See images below for reference to the above steps.

INSTALLATION INFORMATION FOR FBI-TRIGLIDE-11 ON LATE 2011 MODELS
On the late year 2011 TriGlides, the holes in the crossbar channels are pass-through holes instead of threaded. Also, the rear set of holes are partially blocked by a solid bar placed in the channel.
HD no longer has threads in the 4 holes where our hitch installs and that they have set a solid steel bad in the rear cross channel. With these considerations, in order to install the hitch, the easiest alternative installation plan is to pivot the rear of the trike body up, remove the bar, and get (4) nuts and lock washers for the bolts we've provided to bolt the hitch on in place.
To lift the body, remove the left and right side covers of the bike and loosen the allen head bolt on each side that secures the body--it is toward the bottom of the side cover area. Then remove the 2-Piece liner components from the trunk area and remove (6) bolts to free up the body. Before you pivot the body up, put a rag or similar padding between the body and the hand rails next to the passenger seat to prevent marring the paint on the body.
Now raise the rear of the body and block it up, only raises about 1". Put in blocking shims to hold it up. This gives you just enough room to work while you remove the bar and install the hitch. Now you need to take the rear attachment point of the mufflers loose so that you can move them toward the outside just enough to allow access to the bolts that secure the solid bar in place within the rear cross channel. The bolts in that bar are accessed from the bottom side and have a torx head with a center pin...you will need to get a tip to fit that then remove these bolts.
Now, with the body loosened and blocked up, you can reach up in to grab and remove the bar out the back. Now put the 4 bolts (provided with the trailer hitch), each with a flat washer, from the top down through the holes in the 2 cross channels and hold them in place as you raise the hitch up to them and put on a lock washer and nut. Tighten each of the bolts using a wrench on top and a socket on bottom.
Once the hitch installation is completed, replace and tighten the muffler mounting bolts, remove shim blocks to lower the body back down, replace the (6) bolts to secure the body to the frame, tighten the 2 side pivot bolts and replace the side covers and trunk liner.
