Safety Precautions
Before getting started, read the following important cautions.
1. Be sure to ground yourself to prevent static charge when installing the internal components. Use a grounding wrist strap and place all electronic components in any static-shielded devices. Most electronic components are sensitive to static electrical charge.
2. Disconnect the power cords from the NA-1531 / NA-1801 before making any installation. Be sure both the system and the external
devices are turned OFF. Sudden surge of power could ruin sensitive components. Make sure the NA-1531 / NA-1801 is properly grounded.
3. Do not open the system’s top cover. If opening the cover for maintenance is a must, only a trained technician is allowed to do
so. Integrated circuits on computer boards are sensitive to static electricity. To avoid damaging chips from electrostatic discharge, observe the following precautions:
ü Before handling a board or integrated circuit, touch an unpainted
portion of the system unit chassis for a few seconds. This will help to discharge any static electricity on your body.
ü When handling boards and components, wear a wrist -grounding
strap, available from most electronic component stores.

This chapter contains the general information and the detailed specifications of the NA-1531 / NA-1801 Network Appliance server. Chapter 1 includes the following sections:

1.1 General Description
The NA-1531 / NA-1801 server is designed for network software solution providers those have data secure, voice over IP, video streaming, network bandwidth controller and another networking appliance requirements across this stable and reliable multiple LAN device. It is a reliable and affordable, 1U-height unit that requires only power and network connections for setup. There can be deployed up to eight LAN ports combinations for customer selection in the maximum for application. They also can support LAN by -pass features which can isolate the defective segments.
NA-1531 / NA-1801 has pretty good enclosure management interface to be implemented in the factory default. It can support P.O.S.T (Power On Self Test) feature through hyper -terminal by console port. LCD module function is available for customer coding also.

And it has room space for one hard drive deployment. Customer can implement system log and monitoring functions through this hardware specification. With its innovative mechanical and electrical design, the NA-1531 / NA -1801 server provides one PCI expansion slot for VPN encryption / decryption adapter board and another special functions enabling. It cans enhancement network security process performance and of-load the CP U loading.
The NA-1531 / NA-1801 can support wonderful networking application platform by excellent cost with performance ratio.

1.5 Front Panel Outlets
Located at the front panel of the NA -1531 / NA-1801 server are the I/O outlets for connections of serial and Ethernet interface-supported devices. You also can find out the LCD module.
The NA -1531 / NA-1801 Server Rear Panel

2.2 Setting up the appliance
This section provides the information about the initial installation to setup the NA-1531 / NA-1801
2.2.1 Removing and Replacing the Top Cover
To gain access into the internal components of the NA-1531 / NA-1801, you must follow the instructions given below to remove the
top cover.

2.2.2 Installing a Microprocessor (CPU)
1. Align pin one (e.g., white dot) of the CPU with pin one of the socket. Pin one of the CPU socket may either be marked on the board or indicated by an arrow head symbol on one corner of the socket. Normally, its diagonal corner distinguishes pin one on the socket.
2. To complete the CPU installation, gently press the CPU into place.
3. Double-check the insertion and orientation of the CPU before applying power. Improper installation will result in permanent damage to the CPU.
2.2.3 Installing a memory module (DIMM)
The main board can supports two 184-pin DDR socket for a maximum total memory up to 2GB None-ECC unbuffer Memory.
The Intel 875 can support Single- and Dual-Channel Operation
1. In single-channel operation DIMM2 is disabled. Only DIMM 1 need
be added.
2. In dual-channel mode the memory populated in the two channels
must be identical DIMM configurations. The configuration consists of the same number of physical rows or banks (1 or 2), row address bits, column address bits, the same technology part (128-Mb, 256-Mb, 512-Mb), and the same DRAM chip width (x4, x8). It is not necessary to match DIMM timings. A CL=2.0 DIMM can be paired with a CL=2.5 DIMM as long as the geometry matches.
Attention: u When you handle electrostatic discharge-sensitive
(ESDs), take precautions to avoid damage from static electricity.

.2.2.4 Installing a DMA/66/100 hard drive
To accommodate the fast transfer rate of Ultra DMA/66/100, a cable (with 44 pin connectors on both ends) is necessary when installing Ultra DMA/66/100 drives. The NA-1531 / NA-1801, on this aspect, can support IDE hard drive and DOM (Disk on Module) deployment. It is through the IDE Connector (CN4, CN3)

The connectors allow the CPU card to connect with other parts of the system. Some problems encountered by your system may be a result from loose or improper connection s. 2.2.6 Installing Display Interface
2. 2.6.1 CRT Interface
In general, the customer need to have VGA display features while they making the software porting. The main boards of NA -1531 and NA -1801 both have supported a Mini-PCI slot. The customer can enable the VGA display features through AX92101 which is a mini-PCI bus VGA card. The Mini-PCI card can support CRT, LVDS and TFT.
The customer also can use the third party VGA display adapter card through the PCI slot.
2.2.7 Installing Serial Port Interface
The serial interface onboard consists of COM1 port (CN 19), COM2 (CN10), COM3 (CN6) and COM4 (C N7) supports RS-232.
These interfaces could be for LCM command transaction bus or another specifies features applications by customer.
2. 2.7.1 Serial Ports IRQ Selection
This main board uses four 10-pin connectors for COM1 (CN19), COM2 (C N10), COM3 (CN6) and COM4 (CN7). In general, we use the COM2 to communicate with LCD module which like as a command channel to LCD module by software programming. As for the COM1, it should be a console port for this device. Which way can supports customer doing self test or diagnostic to this device.

Interrupt Requests on COM1 and COM2 are selected via IRQ4 and IRQ3 respectively. Additionally, both ports can be enabled or disabled via BIOS setting.

The Universal Serial Bus (USB) connector on the main board is for installation of peripherals supporting the USB interface. R_USB1 /CN2 are the 10 -pin USB connector on the main board.

Award BIOS Utility
Chapter 4 describes the different settings available in the Award BIOS that comes with the NA-1531 / NA-1801. Also contained here are instructions on how to set up the BIOS configuration.
3.1 BIOS Introduction
The Award BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) installed in your computer system’s ROM supports Intel Celeron processors in a standard IBM-AT compatible I/O system. The BIOS provides critical low-level support for standard devices such as disk drives, serial and parallel ports. It also adds virus and password protection as well as special support for detailed fine -tuning of the chipset controlling the entire system.
3.2 BIOS Setup
The Award BIOS provides a Setup utilit y program for specifying the system configurations and settings. The BIOS ROM of the system stores the Setup utility. When you turn ON the computer, the Award BIOS is immediately activated. Pressing the <Del> key immediately allows you to enter the Setup utility. If you are a little bit late pressing the <Del> key, POST (Power On Self Test) will continue with its test

routines, thus preventing you from invoking the Setup. If you still wish to enter Setup, restart the system by pressing the ”Reset” button or simultaneously pressing the <Ctrl>, <Alt> and <Delete> keys. You can also restart by turning the system OFF and back ON again. The following message will appear on the screen:
Press <DEL> to Enter Setup
In general, you press the arrow keys to highlight it ems, <Enter> to select, the <PgUp> and <PgDn> keys to change entries, <F1> for help and <Esc> to quit.
When you enter the Setup utility, the Main Menu screen will appear on the screen. The Main Menu allows you to select from various setup functions and exit choices.

The section below the setup items of the Main Menu displays the control keys for this menu. Another section located at the bottom of the Main Menu, just below the control keys section, displays information on the currently highlighted item in the list.
NOTE: If you find that your computer cannot boot after making
and saving system changes with Setup, the Award BIOS, via its built -in override feature, resets your system to the CMOS default settings.
We strongly recommend that you avoid making any changes to the chipset defaults. These defaults have been carefully chosen by both Award and your system manufacturer to provide the absolute maximum performance and reliability.
3.3 Standard CMOS Setup
Standard CMOS Setup allows you to record some basic hardware configurations in your computer system and set the system clock and error handling. If the motherboard is already installed in a working system, you will not need to select this option. You will need to run the Standard CMOS option, however, if you change your system hardware configurations, the onboard battery fails, or the configuration stored in the CMOS memory was lost or damaged.

At the bottom of the menu are the control keys for use on this menu. If you need any help in each item fie ld, you can press the <F1> key. It will display the relevant information to help you. The memory display at the lower right-hand side of the menu is read-only. It will adjust automatically according to the memory changed. The following pages describe each item of this menu.

The date format is <day>, <date> <month> <year>. Press <F3> to show the calendar.

Time
The time format is <hour> <minute> <second> accepting either function key or numerical key. The time is calculated based on the 24-hour mili tary -time clock. For example, 1 p.m. is 13:00:00.

The categories identify the types of one channel that have been installed in the computer. There are 45 predefined types and 2 user definable types are for Enhanced IDE BIOS. Type 1 to Type 45 are predefined. Type User is user-definable. Press <PgUp>/<+> or <PgDn>/<> to select a numbered hard disk type or type the number and press <Enter>. Note that the specifications of your drive must match with the drive table. The hard disk will not work properly if you enter improper information within this category. If your hard disk drive type does not match or is not listed, you can use Type User to define your own drive type manually. If you select Type User, related information is asked to be entered to the following items. Enter the information directly from the keyboard and press <Enter>. This information should be provided in the documentation from your hard disk vendor or the system manufacturer. If the controller of HDD interface is ESDI, select “Type 1”.

Virus Warning
This item protects the boot sector and partition table of your hard disk against accidental modifi cations. If an attempt is made, the BIOS will halt the system and display a warning message. Upon selecting this o

When you select this function, the following message will appear at the center of the screen to assist you in creating a password.
ENTER PASSWORD:
Type the password with eight characters at most, and press <Enter>. The password typed will now clear any previously entered password from CMOS memory. You will be asked to confirm the password. Type the password again and press <Enter>. You may also press <Esc> to abort the selection and not enter a password.

To disable password, just press <Enter> when you are prompted to enter password. A message will confirm the password being disabled. Once the password is disabled, the system will boot and you can enter Setup freely.
PASSWORD DISABLED.
When a password is enabled, you have to type it every time you enter Setup. This prevents any unauthorized person from changing your system configuration.
Additionally when a password is enabled, you can also require the BIOS to request a password every time the system reboots. This would prevent unauthorized use of your computer.
You determine when the password is required within the BIOS Features Setup Menu and its Security option. If the Security option is set to “System”, the password is required during boot up and entry into Setup. If set as “Setup”, prompting will only occur prior to entering Setup.
