IMPORTANT
Please read through this Manual carefully before using the FMT6900,
FMT6900ST, FMT6900STD or FMT6910.
This tool must only be used for paint drying and within the parameters
outlined in this manual. All users of the equipment should be trained in any
risks associated with the products they are drying or using as drying aids.
Tool Use
This model has been designed and developed to assist with any number of small drying processes,
and is ideal for spot repairs, engine drying, adhesive stripe removal, drying filler, primer, or just preheating prior to spraying.
It may be used as a stand-alone system, when fitted to the slide and lock bracket on the separately
available 5 Piece lightweight stand, or as a source of instant direct heat, when used as a hand
held. A mechanical timer is also available to help ensure correct drying times.
Fitted with the powerful 1KW Gold Powerslim short wave infrared lamp - instant direct heat can be
directed wherever and whenever it may be required.
To ensure long lamp life do not drop or subject the fitting to large amounts of vibration when lamp is
lit.

Safety Instructions
Electrical Safety
WARNING! It is the responsibility of the owner and the operator to read, understand and comply
with the following:
1 You must check all electrical products, before use, to ensure that they are safe. You must
inspect power cables, plugs, sockets and any other connectors for wear or damage. You
must ensure that the risk of electric shock is minimised by the installation of appropriate
safety devices. A Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB) should be incorporated in the
main distribution board. If in any doubt consult a qualified electrician.
2 You must also read and understand the following instructions concerning electrical
safety.
3 The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 makes owners of electrical appliances responsible
for the safe condition of those appliances and the
safety of the appliance operators. If in any doubt about electrical safety, contact a
qualified electrician.
4 Ensure that the insulation of all the cables on the appliance is undamaged and safe,
before connecting it to the power supply.
5 Ensure that the cables are always protected against short circuit and overload.
6 Regularly inspect the power supply cables and plugs etc. for wear or damage and check
all connections to ensure that none are loose.
7 Important: Ensure that the voltage marked on the appliance matches the power supply to
be used and that a correctly rated fuse is fitted.
8 DO NOT pull or carry the appliance by the power cable.
9 DO NOT use worn or damaged cables, plugs or connectors. Immediately have any faulty
item repaired or replaced by a qualified electrician.
10 The mains lead is made from high temperature cable, not a standard PVC cable and as
such should not be replaced without consulting a suitable qualified electrician.
11 Use of an extension cord is not recommended. However, should one be used, ensure the
extension cord is in good condition, of the right current rating and that it is fully extended.
General Safety Instructions
1 Remove all packaging and store it away from children, check the package and drier
for visible damage or tampering.
2 Familiarise yourself with the applications and limitations of the drier.
3 Ensure the drier is in good order and condition both physically and electrically before
use. If in any doubt, do not use the unit and contact an electrician.
Only use recommended attachments and parts. To use unauthorised parts may be
dangerous and will invalidate your warranty.
4 Check that the lamp guards are in place, undamaged and firmly attached.
5 Keep tools and other items away from the drier when it is in use.
6 Keep the work area clean and clear of unnecessary items.
7 Keep children and unauthorised persons away from the heater, as it gets very hot.
8 Disconnect from mains and allow to cool before moving or attempting any cleaning or
maintenance.
9 DO NOT use in areas where hazardous vapours may be present.
10 DO NOT subject the heater lamps to exposure to water. The product is IP20 rated.
11 DO NOT touch the heater lamps, even when cold.
12 DO NOT disassemble the drier for any reason. This unit must be checked by qualified
personnel only.
13 DO NOT use this drier to perform a task for which it has not been designed.
14 WARNING! If the 10 Amp fuse blows, disconnect from the mains supply and ensure it is
replaced with an identical fuse type.
15 Store the heater carefully in a safe, dry, child proof location.
16 WARNING! Never touch the lamps directly with your fingers. Use a soft cloth; otherwise
the tubes may get damaged.
17 WARNING! Ensure the heater lamps are never closer than 500mm (20in.) from the
object it is drying.
Lamp Fitting And Replacement
Should it be necessary to change a lamp on the cassette, please follow these instructions.
i CAUTION: Before examining or carrying out any maintenance ensure the heater has
cooled down and is disconnected from the mains supply.
ii The lamp used in this fitting is robust and if knocks and shock vibrations are avoided, will
last for around 5000 hours.
To Replace The Lamp
1 Ensure the power is turned off and remove plug from socket. Allow to cool. When cool lie
fitting on surface with guard pointing upwards.
2 Remove the first two screws from one end of an end reflector, this will release the guard
and expose the lamp connection.
3 Now remove the other two screws and end reflector from the other end of the cassette,
exposing the other end lamp connection.
4 The in-line connectors can be separated by hand, but a better solution is to use two pairs
of long nosed pliers. One to hold each connector when separating wires.
5 Remove old lamp and insert replacement one taking care to hold lamp by porcelain caps

and not to handle the quartz glass.
6 Reconnect Lamp cable to cassette wiring, taking care to replace the wires in the original
positions.
7 Now replace the end reflectors and grill to complete the assembly.
8 The 4 screws holding the end reflectors must be in place before turning on.
WARNING! Failure to reassemble all the parts and use the guard will invalidate any remaining
guarantee and may make the unit dangerous.
Please do not attempt to carry out any other form of maintenance or electrical adjustments to your
Paint Dryer Machine without first consulting your supplier.
REMEMBER to dispose of the old lamp in accordance with the WEEE Directive (see paragraph
Environmental Protection (W.E.E.E.) below).
User Maintenance Guide
The FMT6900/6910 series should provide years of trouble free service. However, to ensure
maximum benefit from your machine, it should be treated with care, kept dry, cleaned, and
electrically tested on a regular basis. Any worn or damaged parts should be replaced immediately.
To assist we have provided a list of the main spares available to order below.
The reflectors should be kept clean at all times to ensure maximum heat reflection. Dirty reflectors
will reduce the energy transmitted and seriously affect the recommended drying times.

Timer (not FMT6900)
Timer Type 0/60 minute
This timer has been designed and developed to assist with any number of small drying processes,
and is ideal for controlling you dryer.
Please note that this controller solely turns the heater off after a user settable time. It won’t control
the temperature so care needs to be taken that the heater is not placed too close to paint work, low
temperature components or anything with a low flammability rating.

Warning: The timer will take a maximum of 2 paint dryers with a total load of 2kw or less.
Exceeding this loading will damage the timer beyond economical repair and is not covered by the
guarantee.
