This card provides quick start instructions for an experienced installer to set up and operate the DVI 201xi Tx.
Refer to www.extron.com for the complete user’s guide.
Step 1
Turn off all equipment or disconnect from power sources. Mount the transmitter and receiver as required.
Procedure C: To use DDC pass-through routed to the local monitor:
i. Configure the DDC switches as shown in the figure at right. ii. Connect a source device to the transmitter. iii. Connect a display device to the receiver and, if
required, a local monitor to the transmitter.
iv. Connect the transmitter and receiver. v. Power on the transmitter, receiver, and local monitor. vi. Power on the source device. vii. Power on the source device.
Step 2
Choose a receiver that is compatible with the DVI 201xi Tx.
Step 3
Determine how the source device will obtain the EDID information and select one of the following choices.
Procedure A: To capture the EDID of a desired display and store it in the EDID Minder for future use:
i. Connect the display to the local monitor output of
the transmitter.
ii. Power on the transmitter and the local monitor. iii. Configure the DDC switches as shown in the figure
at right.
iv. Press and release the EDID "Store" button (see the
figure at right). The rear panel LED turns amber while the EDID information is read and stored from the local monitor. Afterwards, the LED turns green.
v. Power off and disconnect the display from the
transmitter.
vi. Connect the transmitter to the receiver. vii. Connect a source device to the transmitter. viii. Connect a display device to the receiver and, if required, a local
monitor to the transmitter.
ix. Power on the display device(s), the transmitter, and the receiver. x. Power on the source device.
Procedure B: To use the default EDID:
i. Configure the DDC switches as shown in the figure
at right.
ii. Connect a source device to the transmitter. iii. Connect a display device to the receiver and, if

display:
i. Configure the DDC switches as shown in the figure at right. ii. Connect a source device to the transmitter. iii. Connect a display device to the receiver and, if

iv. Connect the transmitter and receiver. v. Power on the transmitter, receiver, and display
devices.
vi. Power on the source device.
Step 4
The DVI 201xi Tx transmits single link DVI-D (1024x768 or 720p @ 60 Hz up to 200'; 1920x1200 or 1080p @ 60 Hz up to 100') over two CAT 5/5e/6/7 twisted pair cables.
