fEAturEs

• Transmits single link DVI-D/HDMI and RS-232 signals over two CAT 5-type cables

- Shielded Twisted Pair cabling provides added protection from outside interference and
increases overall signal transmission distances.

• Transmits additional stereo audio signals — The DVI 201 A D can send balanced or
unbalanced stereo audio signals that accompany the video, over a separate audio cable.

• Supports DDC and HDCP copy protection transmission — The DVI 201 A D fully
supports long distance transmission of DDC and HDCP signals.

• Remote powering of transmitter or receiver — Only one power supply is necessary
to power both devices.

• LED indicator for signal presence and power

• Bi-directional RS-232/IR pass-through — Bi-directional RS-232 control or IR signals
can be transmitted alongside the DVI or HDMI signals, so that the remote display can be
controlled without the need for additional cabling.

• Fully supports HDMI signals when used with optional Extron HDMI-DVI adapters
— Supports CEC Consumer Electronics Control signal transmission.

• Compatible with standard DVI 201 transmitter and receiver — Enables mixing
and matching of desktop and wallplate transmitters and receivers to meet application
requirements.

• Mounts in an included Decora®-style wall plate — The DVI 201 A D transmitter and
receiver can be installed with a one-gang electrical box or Extron MR 100 Mud Ring,
part # 70-519-12.

• External universal power supply included, part # 70-055-01 — Provides worldwide
power compatibility.

DEsCrIPt Ion

The E xtron DVI 201 A D is a Decora®-style transmitter and receiver set that enables
DVI - Digital Visual Interface or HDMI - High Definition Multimedia Interface signals to be carried
over distances significantly greater than the specified 5 meter (15 foot) limitation for standard
DVI cables. In addition, it can accept and transmit stereo audio and RS-232 or IR signals. Linked
together using two economical and integration friendly CAT 5, CAT 5e, CAT 6, or CAT 7 cables,
the DVI 201 A D transmitter and receiver work together to send single link DVI-D or HDMI
signals over 200 feet (60 meters) for HDTV and XGA (1024x768).

The DVI 201 A D supports the long distance transmission of HDTV signals with HDCP - High­bandwidth Digital Content Protection for copy protection of digital television broadcasts and high
resolution digital video output from DTV tuners and DVRs, HD DVD, and Blu-ray Disc players.
With the appropriate adapters from Extron, the DVI 201 A D is fully compatible with HDMI, a
digital video, audio, and control standard for consumer A/V products.

Several features facilitate convenient, streamlined system integration. The DVI 201 A D supports
transmission of balanced or unbalanced stereo audio signals, when a separate audio cable is
installed between the transmitter and the receiver. RS-232 or IR signals from a third-party
control system can also be transmitted over the same cabling as the DVI signals, for remote
control of a projector or flat-panel display. An LED indicator provides a quick means of verifying
power and signal presence. Furthermore, either the transmitter or receiver can be remotely
powered over this cabling, so that external power is necessary for only one of the devices.

The DVI 201 A D transmitter and receiver are designed for wall-mounting with the included
Decora-style wallplates. Both devices are also available separately, and may be matched
with the standard desktop DVI 201 transmitter or receiver to suit the requirements of a
specific application.
