Overview

The DA412GHD-SDI is a one input, four output distribution amplier for multi-rate SDI. The DA distributes an SDI video signal with embedded audio, closed caption, and time code to up to four simultaneous outputs. It is capable of handling rates from 270Mbps to 11.88Gbps data rate. The DA also features automatic cable equalization and output signal re-clocking to compensate for signal degradation in long cable runs.

This guide provides quick start instructions for an experienced installer to setup and operate the DA412GHD-SDI distribution amplier. For complete instructions, see the DA412GHD-SDI User Guide at www.extron.com.

Power inlet — Connect the IEC power cord

between the included 12VDC power supply and a 100-240VAC, 50-60Hz source. Connect the power supply to this power inlet using the provided 3.5 mm, 2-pole captive screw connector (see image below to wire the connector).

Installation

1. Mount the DA412GHD-SDI in a suitable location.

The unit can be placed on a table top or, with the appropriate kit, mounted on a rack, or mounted under or through furniture. Follow the instructions provided with the kit.

2. Connect the source device to the SDI input of the distribution amplier. The DA412GHD-SDI will equalize the input signal

and output the buffered and reclocked data rate the following distances:

• Up to 70meters (230feet) at 11.88Gbps

• Up to 90meters (295feet) at 5.94Gbps

• Up to 180meters ( 590feet) at 2.970Gbps

• Up to 240meters (787feet) at 1.485Gbps

• Up to 300meters (984feet) at 270Mbps

3. Connect up to four display devices to the BNC outputs of the distribution amplier.

4. Connect a power supply to the 2-pole captive screw inlet.

After all devices are powered up, the system is fully operational. If any problems are encountered, verify that the cables are routed and connected properly. If your problems persist, call the Extron Sales & Technical Support Hotline closest to you, available at

www.extron.com.

CAUTION: The wires must be kept separate while the power supply is plugged in. Remove power before wiring.

• The installation must always be in accordance with the applicable provisions of National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA

70, article 725 and the Canadian Electrical Code part 1, section 16. The power supply shall not be permanently xed to building structure or similar structure.

• Power supply voltage polarity is critical. Incorrect voltage polarity can damage the power supply and the unit. The ridges

on the side of the cord identify the power cord negative lead. To verify the polarity before connection, plug in the power supply with no load and check the output with a voltmeter.

• The length of the exposed wires is important. The ideal length is 3/16 inch (5 mm). Longer bare wires can short together.

Shorter wires are not as secure in the connectors and could be pulled out.

• La longueur des câbles exposés est primordiale lorsque l’on entreprend de les dénuder. La longueur idéale est de 5mm

(3/16inches). S’ils sont trop longs, les câbles exposés pourraient se toucher et provoquer un court-circuit. S’ils sont trop courts, ils peuvent être tirés facilement, même s’ils sont correctement serrés par les borniers à vis.

• Unless otherwise stated, the AC/DC adapters are not suitable for use in air handling spaces or in wall cavities.

• Remote power is intended for indoors use only. No part of a network that uses remote power can be routed outdoors.

depending on the signal resolution, type of cable, source, and display used in the system.
