DMM Temperature Adapter
1. INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on your purchase of Extech’s DMM Temperature Adapter. This professional
meter, with proper care, will provide years of safe reliable service.

4. OPERATION
4.1 Adapter to DMM Connection
Connect the Adapter to the DMM input terminals via the Adapter's output plugs
observing polarity (the output plug polarity is labeled on the adapter). The positive (+)

Adapter plug connects to the DMM "V" volts input terminal and the Adapter's
negative plug connects to the DMM "COM" (-) input terminal. Power the DMM and set
its function switch to the mV DC range. (Use the VDC setting if mV setting is not
available). If you are using an Auto Range DMM, disable the Auto Range function
and use Manual Range mode.
4.2 Power the Adapter and Select Temperature Units
Move the "OFF/C/F" Switch to either the degrees F or C position as desired. The
Adapter is now powered (observe the red LED power light) and the units of
measure are selected. To remove power to the meter, move this switch to the OFF
position and observe that the red LED indicator extinguishes. If the red status LED
does not light when the meter is switched on, replace battery.
4.3 Measurement Considerations
The supplied Type K Thermocouple can measure temperatures up to 650oF. The
Adapter can accept other thermocouples which can measure higher temperatures
(up to 2000oF). Contact Extech or you local distributor for other thermocouple probe
types.
5. MAINTENANCE
5.1 Battery Replacement
Remove the three (3) Phillips head screws on the rear of the Adapter and open the
housing. Replace the battery and secure the adapter housing.
5.2 Cleaning
Caution: Use only a dry cloth to clean the plastic case.
6. CALIBRATION / REPAIR SERVICES
Extech offers complete repair and calibration services for all of the products we sell. For
periodic calibration, NIST certification or repair of any Extech product, call customer
service for details on services available. Extech recommends that calibration be
performed on an annual basis to insure calibration integrity.
7. WARRANTY
EXTECH INSTRUMENTS CORPORATION warrants this instrument to be free of defects in parts and
workmanship for one year from date of shipment (a six month limited warranty applies on sensors
and cables). If it should become necessary to return the instrument for service during or beyond the
warranty period, contact the Customer Service Department at (781) 890-7440 ext. 210 for
authorization. A Return Authorization (RA) number must be issued before any product is returned to
Extech. The sender is responsible for shipping charges, freight, insurance and proper packaging to
prevent damage in transit.
This warranty does not apply to defects resulting from action of the user such as misuse, improper
wiring, operation outside of specification, improper maintenance or repair, or unauthorized modification.
Extech specifically disclaims any implied warranties or merchantability or fitness for a specific
purpose and will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damages. Extech's
total liability is limited to repair or replacement of the product.

1. INTRODUCCIÓN
Felicitaciones por su compra del Adaptador de Temperatura para MMD de Extech. Este

NOTA: El compartimento de la batería está en la parte posterior del adaptador, asegurado
por tres tornillos.
4. OPERACIÓN
4.1 Conexión del Adaptador al MMD
Conecte el Adaptador a las terminales de entrada del MMD por medio de los
enchufes de salida del adaptador tomando en cuenta la polaridad (la polaridad de los
enchufes del adaptador está etiquetada en el adaptador). El enchufe positivo (+) del
Adaptador se conecta a la terminal de entrada de voltios «V» del MMD y el enchufe
negativo del Adaptador se conecta a la terminal de entrada "COM" (-) del MMD.
Encienda el MMD y fije su interruptor de función en la escala de CD mV. (Use el
control VDC si el control mV no está disponible). Si está usando un MMD de escala
automática, desactive la función automática y use el modo de Escala Manual.
4.2 Encienda el adaptador y seleccione las unidades de temperatura
Mueva el interruptor «OFF/C/F» a la posición de grados F o C deseada. El adaptador
está encendido (observe el LED indicador rojo de encendido) y se han seleccionado
las unidades de medición. Para apagar el medidor, mueva el interruptor a la posición
OFF y observe que el LED indicador rojo se apaga. Si el LED rojo de estado no se
enciende cuando se enciende el medidor, reemplace la batería.
4.3 Consideraciones de medición
El termopar tipo K que se ha suministrado con su unidad puede medir temperaturas
hasta 176.6° C. El adaptador puede aceptar otros termopares que pueden medir
temperaturas hasta 1093° C. Llame a Extech o a su distribuidor local para obtener
otros tipos de termopares sensores.
5. MANTENIMIENTO
5.1 Reemplazo de la batería
Quite los tres (3) tornillos de cabeza Phillips de la parte posterior del Adaptador y abra
la caja. Reemplace la batería y asegure la cubierta de la caja.
5.2 Limpieza
Precaución: Use sólo un paño seco para limpiar la caja plástica.
6. SERVICIOS DE REPARACIÓN Y CALIBRACIÓN
Extech ofrece servicios completos de reparación y calibración para todos los productos
que vendemos. Para calibración periódica, certificación NIST o reparación de cualquiera de
los productos Extech, llame al departamento de servicio a clientes para mayor información
de los servicios disponibles. Extech recomienda realizar la calibración anualmente para
asegurar la integridad de la calibración.
7. GARANTÍA
EXTECH INSTRUMENTS CORPORATION garantiza este instrumento para estar libre de
defectos en partes o mano de obra durante un año a partir de la fecha de embarque (se
aplica una garantía limitada a seis meses para los cables y sensores). Si fuera necesario

regresar el instrumento para servicio durante o después del periodo de garantía, llame al
Departamento de Servicio a Clientes al teléfono (781) 890-7440 ext. 210 para solicitar
autorización. Se debe emitir un número de Autorización de Retorno (RA) antes de regresar
cualquier producto a Extech. El remitente es responsable por los cargos de envío, flete,
seguro y empaque adecuado para prevenir daños en tránsito. Esta garantía no se aplica a
defectos que resulten por acciones del usuario como mal uso, alambrado inapropiado,
operación fuera de las especificaciones, mantenimiento o reparaciones inapropiadas o
modificaciones no autorizadas. Extech específicamente rechaza cualquier garantía
