MLSCDBR - MLS CONNECT Digital Bus Receiver
Note: Connections to this equipment should be made by a suitably qualified person and in accordance with the current wiring regulations.
These instructions should be read in conjunction with the CDW10U5 CONNECT Digital CD Box Connection Centre installation instructions.
MLS CONNECT Digital Bus Receivers are for use only with Ex-Or CONNECT Digital CDW10U5/CDW10U52L CD Box Connection Centres. The units are principally for use where lighting control is required as part of a building-wide lighting management system without the need for presence detection or photocell control. When connected to the CD Box the MLSCDBR behaves as a conventional detector, controlling lights connected to it via the CD Box and communicating with detectors or other equipment programmed to the same zone as itself throughout the installation.
Fixing
The unit is suitable for surface mounting onto a wall or ceiling. Mounting holes are provided which are suitable for screws up to M4 in size.
Connection
The MLSCDBR has a socket on the side of the housing to accept the (supplied) 500mm patch lead to connect it to the CD Box. No further connection is necessary. Units should be plugged only into one of the five RJ45 style sockets on the front of the CD Box and must not be linked together.
When connecting to the CD Box, observe the hierarchy detailed in the CDW10U5 installation instructions.
Luminaires containing digital, dimmable ballasts (with the appropriate DSI or DALI input) can be controlled providing that ballast types are not mixed. When a fixed output HF ballast is being used, the MLSCDBR will provide on/off switching through the mains outlet on the CD Box.
All connections to the luminaires will be through the 6-pin outlet on the CD Box.
Tips
i) Where there are only two options such as ON/OFF, a double click of the OK button toggles between them.
ii) Where there are multiple options, a double click of the OK button recalls a list of all options for that parameter.
Use the UP, DOWN and OK buttons to select.
iii) Use the OK button to go forward (through the menus) without displaying help pages.
iv) Press UPLOAD at any time to transfer all current settings from the handset to the product.
Commissioning
The MLSCDBR is supplied factory pre-set which ensures the lighting will switch on automatically as soon as power is applied. Final commissioning of the unit, including assigning to zones, requires the use of the HP2000 Programmer. Please refer to HP2000 instructions for comprehensive commissioning instructions.
Commissioning Detectors using the HP2000
It is important that the HP2000 is pointed from directly beneath the Infrared Programming Port on the MLSCDBR when programming or downloading, at a distance no greater than 20cm from the unit. Care should be taken to keep the HP2000 steady during these commands.
1. Switch on HP2000 by pressing the red power button.
2. Point HP2000 at the unit and press the DOWNLOAD button. The HP2000 will confirm the product’s identity and call up the correct menu of parameters and their current settings.
3. Use a combination of UP, DOWN, FORWARD and BACK buttons to navigate the parameter menu, selecting options for each shown. (See Tips below.)
4. When options for all parameters have been selected, point the HP2000 at the unit and press the UPLOAD button. The luminaire(s) will switch off briefly during the programming process and the HP2000 shows DATA OK to confirm operation.
5. After a short period of inactivity (default 5 minutes), the HP2000 hibernates retaining the most recent settings.
