MLS Digital Emergency Test Module
Installation and Commissioning
Instructions
(Please read these instructions fully before installation)
MLS2000ETM - MLS Emergency Test Module
The MLS2000ETM is primarily for use in conjunction with the Ex-Or MLS
Managed Lighting System where an emergency lighting test function is
required. When used with the RB2000 MLS Bus Power Supply this function
can be easily achieved.
Fixing
The MLS2000ETM is designed to be din-rail mounted. By extending the
two plastic fixing wings the unit may be fixed directly to a panel using
suitable screws.
Connection
The MLS Bus cable should be 1.5mm twisted-pair unscreened. Please
2
see AN4001 - MLS Wiring Application Guide for further information. Do not
connect the MLS Bus to mains as this will cause irreversible damage to all
devices in the system. MLS Bus connections to this unit are polarity-free.
The mains supply, volt-free contacts and MLS Bus terminals are suitable for
2 2
1 x 4mm or 2 x 2.5mm cable.
This equipment must be installed only by a suitably qualified person and in
accordance with the wiring regulations. It is the installer’s responsibility to

Operation
The MLS2000ETM will provide a maintained live supply to emergency
lighting whilst power is applied to the unit.
When an emergency test is required, the user operates the emergency test
keyswitch on the front panel of the RB2000 which causes the
MLS2000ETM to disconnect its maintained live output.
The test will be active for as long as the keyswitch is in the ON position and
for up to 30 seconds after the keyswitch has been returned to the off
position.
In the event of a power failure the emergency luminaires will enter
emergency mode as normal.
There are three status LEDs on the front of the unit:
MLS OK Illuminated when the MLS Bus is connected correctly throughout
the installation.
POWER Illuminated when mains power is applied to the unit.
RELAY When the unit is in emergency test mode (i.e. when the relay is
open), this LED will illuminate.
