CDW1U1
Factory Configuration
When the unit is shipped, terminals L and CL are linked. A spare link is
supplied (in the spare terminals). When this is fitted between SWL and
CL, a connected detector will control both luminaire outputs, switching
any connected luminaires OFF once the time delay has elapsed.
A neon in the connection chamber indicates when power is present.
Connections are made as illustrated below. Two spare terminals are
provided for termination purposes. Live (L) is routed to the 6-way
detector connector. Maintained Live (ML) is routed to the two luminaire
connectors.

Installation Instructions
WARNING 230V a.c.
SWL is the switched live output from the detector.
CL is the ’connected’ live routed to the 6-way luminaire output socket.
This is used when controlling regulating luminaires. In this
configuration, the mains supply to the regulating luminaires is not
switched.

Dimming Control Terminals
The Dimming Control signals from each detector to its group of
luminaires are accessible at terminals under the screw-fixed cover.
W
The connections to this equipment should be made by a suitably
qualified person in accordance with the current wiring regulations.
The unit must be earthed.
The CDW1U1 Connect Digital Box provides an efficient way to interconnect a presence detector and luminaires using industry standard
H2
H1
connectors or a prefabricated wiring system (modular wiring).
A detector can control both regulating and fixed-output luminaires.
The total CD Box load must not exceed 6A. Please check the detector
specification for all control parameters.

Electrical Connections
Screw terminals are provided under the cover for power supply
connections and extension of the dimming control to other CD Boxes.
Override switches may also be connected here providing a means to
manually control the switched live connections to the luminaires. Where
detectors are connected that utilise the MLS Bus, terminals for
connection to the Bus system are also provided. Terminals are also
provided for use with Ex-Or’s OneSwitch Dimming, providing simple
on/off, raise/lower control - please refer to detector literature for
additional information.
The installation should provide means of supply disconnection and
over-current protection. Please refer to diagrams overleaf for further
information.
Fixing
The box should be sited on a suitable smooth, flat surface using the two

Technical Data
OPERATING VOLTAGE: 230V 50Hz (UK & Europe)
MAXIMUM LOAD PER CDW1U1: 6 Amps
RECOMMENDED CIRCUIT PROTECTION: Max 16 Amp Circuit Breaker.
This may serve several CDW1U1s, depending upon the actual loads installed.

end fixing flanges. Consideration should be given to the box’s location
as access will be required to install the plugs. The box must not be
distorted when fixing.
Alternatively, the box may be rod-fixed. In this case, the fixing should be
substantial enough to withstand the action of plugging and un-plugging
connectors.
