IMPORTANT SAFETY
INFORMATION
11. Read these instructions.
12. Follow all instructions.
13. Keep these instructions.
14. Heed all warnings.
15. Do not use the ACT-18 near water.
16. Clean only with a dry cloth.
17. Do not block any ventilation openings.
Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions.
18. Do not install near any heat sources such as
radiators, stoves, or other devices that may
produce heat.
19. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the
polarization or grounding-type plug. A
polarized plug has two blades with one wider
than the other. Agrounding-type plug has two
blades and a third grounding prong. The wide
blade or the third prong is provided for your
safety. If the provided plug does not fit your
outlet, consult an electrician for replacement
of the obsolete outlet.
10. Protect the power cord from being walked on
or pinched, particularly at the plug and the
point where it exits the ACT-18 amplifier.
11. Only use attachments / accessories specified
by B-52 Pro-Audio.
12. Use only with a cart, stand, bracket or table
specified by B-52 Pro-Audio or sold with
the ACT-18. When a cart is used, use caution
when moving the cart / ACT-18 combination to
avoid injury from-tip over.
13. Unplug the ACT-18 during lightning storms or
when un-used for long periods of time.
14. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
Servicing is required when the ACT-18 has
been damaged in any way such as when
power-cord or plug is damaged, liquid has
been spilled, or objects have fallen into the

Setting Up Your ACT-18 Subwoofer
The B-52 Pro Audio speakers described in this instruction manual are intended for portable used in which the
speakers will be placed directly on the floor, stage or a solid platform. The ACT-18 and ACT-18S described in
this manual should not be suspended or flown.
outdoors or in high-moisture areas. Moisture can damage the subwoofer and can cause corrosion of electrical
contacts.
Keep speakers out of extended or intense direct sunlight. The subwoofer spider and surround will prematurely dry out and finished surfaces may fade and be damaged by long-term exposure to intense ultra-violet light.
B-52 Pro-Audio speakers, especially the ACT-18, can produce high-levels of energy. When placed on slippery
surfaces such as polished wood or smooth tiles, the speaker may move because of its intense bass output.
Precautions should be taken to ensure the subwoofer does not fall off a stage or raised surface .
The ACT-18 models include a pole-mounting cup to allow mounting of a full-range speaker above the subwoofer. When installing a pole to mount a full-range speaker above the ACT-18, be sure to observe the follow
precautions:
u
Check the pole’s specifications to be certain that it is designed to support the weight on the speaker.
Observe all safety precautions specified by the stand’s/pole’s manufacturer.
u
Make sure the pole is placed completely within the receptacle cup both on the subwoofer and the
full-range speaker.
u
Route cables so that performers, production crews and audiences will not trip over them and pull the
speaker over.
u
Do not attempt to place more than one speaker on a pole designed for a single speaker.
u
Do not mount a speaker above the subwoofer in windy conditions.
u
B-52 Pro-Audio recommends that you not lift the speaker above the subwoofer alone.
These models are also not intended for fixed installations
Hearing damage, prolonged exposure to excessive SPL
B-52 Pro-Audio speakers, especially the ACT-18(S) are capable of producing sound pressure levels (SPL) sufficient to cause permanent hearing damage to performers, production crews or people in the audience.
Hearing-protection devices (ear-plugs) are recommended. Caution should be taken to avoid extended exposure to SPL in excess of 90 dBA.
Amplifier Module Precautions
Do not attempt to service the ACT-18 by yourself. Refer all servicing to a B-52 Pro-Audio Authorized dealer.
Service is required when the ACT-18 has had liquid spilled on or inside the subwoofer, objects have fallen onto
the speaker or it has been damaged in any way, the speaker has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not
operate normally or has been dropped.
Keep your ACT-18 amplifier away from sources of heat such as a radiator or intense sunlight. Do not cover
your ACT-18 amplifier with material that may retain heat, such as a blanket or curtain. Be certain that the vents
on the panel of the amplifier are clear of all obstructions during operation.
WARNING – Shock Hazard:
To reduce the risk of fire or electrical shock, do not expose this unit to rain or moisture. Do not operate your
-18(S) near a pool or other standing water
