INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
BATTERY REPLACEMENT:
If after routi ne operation check, th e lamp does not remain lit for the th ree hour period, a new bat tery pack may be required.
01) Switch o the elec tricity at the mains, both switched and permanent supply.
02) Allow bat teries to fully discharge th en reconnect to supply and allow to ch arge for 24 hours.
03) Test again for 3 ho urs, if light does not remain li t change the bat tery pack as follows:
04) Di sconnect from the mains sup ply - both permanent and s witched supply and then remove the diuser.
05) Press the two tabs an d open the gear tray.
06) Unplug the bat tery lead from the circuit b oard.
07) Rem ove the battery pack and lif t the battery pack out of the t ting.
08) Write current date on t he new battery pack .
09) Fit new batter y pack and secure in place.
10) Plug battery pac k into circuit board.
11) Close and secure g ear tray
12) Replace diuser.
13) Restore power and allow to charg e for 24 hours.
14) Perform f ull operation check and up date test record.
REPLACEMENT BATTERY TYPE:
3.6V Ni-Ca d, 3 x C cells 1500mAh
CLEANING:
Clean this light t ting only with a soft dr y cloth.
Do not use any chemic al or abrasive cleaners.
INDUSTRIAL BATTERIES:
Within certa in products Eterna Lighti ng Ltd places lead acid, lithiu m ion, nickel cadmium & nickel metal hydride bat teries on the market. Indu strial batteries are s ubject to waste regulatio n under the Waste Batteri es and Accumulators Regulatio ns 2009 and should b e disposed of responsibly. Purchasers may be ab le to dispose of their waste industrial bat teries locally via leg itimate licensed trade waste contr actors. Eterna is oblige d to take back, free o f charge and within a reasonabl e time, waste industri al batteries of the same che mistry supplied to a Purchas er, for treatment and recycling and is required to d o this in any calendar year new industrial bat teries are placed on the marke t. In certain circum stances, this may include bat teries not originally supplied by Eterna. If any Purchaser requires Eterna to t ake back Industrial batte ries, they should writ e to the Operations Direc tor, Eterna Lighting Ltd, Huxl ey Close, NN8 6AB, who will then advise on the ne cessary arrangement s for the receipt, prop er treatment and recycling o f, the waste industrial batteries.
EVENTUALLY, YOU MAY WANT TO REPLACE THIS PRODUCT:
Regulations require the recycling of Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (European “WEEE Direc tive” eective August 20 05—UK WEEE Regulation s eective 2nd January 20 07). Environment Agenc y Registered Producer : WEE/ GA0248Q Z.

Check the pack and m ake sure you have all of the parts liste d on the front of this bookle t. If not, contact the outlet where you bought this product.
This produc t must be installed by a compet ent person in accord ance with the current building a nd IEE wiring regulations.
As the buyer, install er and/or user of this product it is your own responsi bility to ensure that this tt ing is t for the purpo se for which you have intended it. Eterna Lightin g cannot accept any liability fo r loss, damage or premature failure resulting from inappropriate use.
This light ttin g must be installed in accorda nce with the Building Re gulations making referen ce to the Wiring Regulations BS7671.
Switch o the mains be fore commencing installati on and remove the appropriate circuit fuse.
Suitable for indoor or outdoor use.
This produc t is suitable for installatio n with normal amibility e.g wood, plasterboard and masonry.
Before makin g xing hole(s), check that there are no obstructi ons hidden beneath the mount ing surface such as pipes or cab les.
The chosen loc ation of your new tting shou ld allow for the prod uct to be securely mounte d (e.g. to a ceiling joist) and s afely connected to the mai ns supply (lighting circuit).
Ensure that the tt ing will be accessible after installation for maintenance.
If the location o f your new tting requires th e provision of a new el ectrical supply, the suppl y must conform with the requirements of the Building Regulations mak ing reference to the Wiring Regulations (see above).
Make connecti ons to the electrical supp ly in accordance with the f ollowing code:
Live - Brown or Red Neutral - Blue or B lack
This product is double insulated. Do not connect any part to Earth.
You are advised at ever y stage of your installatio n to double-check any electrical connections you have made. After you h ave completed your installatio n there are elec trical tests that should b e carried out: these tests are sp ecied in the Wiring Reg ulations (BS7671) referred to in th e Building Regulations.
The batteri es supplied with this ttin g are a consumable par t and therefore may be outsi de of any warranty oered.
INSTALLATION:
DANGER ! Please note that there are t wo live
supplies, one s witched and one permanen t; please ensure you isolate b oth before you underta ke any work on the emergency tting.
01) Undo the screws at ea ch end of the diuser and lift o.
02) Press the t abs protruding from the gear t ray to open.
03) Make the c able entry and xing hol es as required. Inside the back of th e tting, there are marki ngs to assist you.
04) Usin g the back of the tting as a templ ate, mark the position of th e xing holes on your mounting surface.
05) Make xing holes a nd t plugs as appropriate.
06) Se cure the back of the tting to th e mounting surface using su itable xings (not supplied ).
07) Appl y a silicon sealant to the xings if mo isture or weather-proong is required.
08) Fit ting a cable gland will also b e necessary if moisture or weather-proong is required.
09) Thr ead the supply cable throug h the entry point and into the ttin g.
10) Make conne ction to the mains supply accor ding to the colour code b elow. Take care not to leave any strands protruding from the terminals and that the terminals cl amp onto the bare wire and not onto the insulatio n.
N - Neutral (Blue/Black) L - Permanent Live (Brow n/Red)
11) Mark the current date o n the battery pack.
12) Connect the batter y pack to the circuit board.
13) Close the gear tray and press bac k onto the clips.
14) Replace the diuser and t ighten securely.
15) Restore the p ower supply. The LED should light to indicate correct charging.
MAINTAINED VERSION ONLY: if the link has been left in place, t he tting should also light . If you have connected a s witch across the terminals, test t he operation of yo ur switch.
OPERATION CHECKS:
Periodic testin g should be carried out to ensu re emergency lighting is operating correctly. Interruption of t he supply, causing the tting to be energised fro m the battery, should be car ried out by the operation o f a local keyswitch or other iso lation device. During th is period all ttings shou ld be examined visu ally to ensure that they are funct ioning correctly. At the end o f the test period the supply shall be restore d and all indicator lamps or devi ces checked to ensure th at the normal supply has been restored.
DA ILY:
Visual inspec tion of the battery cha rge LED.
EACH MONTH:
Isolate the power su pply for a period sucien t to ensure that each lamp is i lluminated. Endorse the test record form supplied.
ONCE EACH YEAR:
Isolate the power su pply and check that the light is still illuminate d after 3 hours. Endorse t he test record form.
Because of the p ossibility of a failure of the n ormal lighting supply o ccurring shortly af ter a period of testing of the eme rgency lighting system o r during the subsequent re charge period, all full du ration tests shall whe rever possible be undert aken preceding time o f low risk to allow for batter y recharge.
NOTE: please keep this instruction booklet and the test re cord in a safe place. A  re ocer or other authorised person may want to see your record of inspection and testing.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
The control gear mu st be operated only within t he enclosure suppli ed. The gear must not be op erated outside of the enclosure.
When energise d by a constant mains supply, the battery w ill be constantly charged wh ether or not the lamp is illuminate d. On failure of the constant mains supply, the tt ing will switch automatically using transistor ised switching from bat tery charging to battery d ischarge powering the lamp wh ether or not the lamp was illu minated before the power failure.
LAMP REPLACEMENT:
DANGER!
NOTE: this unit has a permanent live mains supply, please ensure you isolate before removing cover.
There may also be a seperate switched supply that controls the emergency light tting - this also needs to be isolated.
MAINTAINED MODEL ONLY:
NOTE: To convert the maintain ed tting to non-
maintained op eration, remove the link bet ween terminals “L” and “LI”.
NOTE: If the lamp is to be s witched, remove the link from betwe en the terminals “L” and “LI” and connec t cable from your s witch into ‘LI’.
The light source cont ained in this luminaire shall only be rep laced by the manufacturer, service age nt or a similar qualied pers on.
CAUTION, RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK.
The light source is designed to last the lifetime of the luminaire.
