A guide for qualied electricians

EVENTUALLY, YOU MAY WANT TO
REPLACE THIS PRODUCT:

Clean this ttin g only with a soft dry clo th.

READ THIS FIRST:

Check the pack and m ake sure you have all of the
parts liste d on the front of this bookle t. If not,
contact the outlet where you bought this product.

This tting mus t be installed by a competent p erson
in accordance with th e Building Regulations mak ing
reference to the cu rrent edition of the IEE Wirin g
Regulations (BS7671).

As the buyer, install er and/or user of this product
it is your own respon sibility to ensure that this
spur or socket is t f or the purpose for which you
have intended it. Ete rna Lighting cannot accept
any liability fo r loss, damage or premature fai lure
resulting from inappropriate use.

Suitable for indoor use only.

Do not attach to su rfaces which are damp, fresh ly
painted or other wise electricall y conductive (e.g.
metallic sur faces).

Make connecti ons to the electrical supp ly in
accordance with the f ollowing code:

Live - Brown or Red
Neutral - Blue or B lack
Earth - Gree n and Yellow

When making con nections, ensure that the te rminals
are tightened se curely and that no strands of wi re
protrude. Chec k that the terminals are tightene d
onto the bared cond uctors and not onto any
insulation.

This produc t must be connected to Ear th.

You are advised at ever y stage of your installatio n
to double- check all electrical co nnections you have
made. After you h ave completed your installatio n
there are elec trical tests that should b e carried out:
these tests are sp ecied in the Wiring Reg ulations
(BS7671) referre d to in the Building Regulatio ns.

INSTALLATION:

SINGL E FUSED RCD SPUR

Connect the wi ring from the mains supply to the
terminals marked “LINE”. See diagram oppo site.

Connect the wi ring from your appliance to the
terminals marked “LOAD”. See diagram opp osite.

TWIN UNSWITCHED RCD SOCKET

Connect your ma ins supply wiring to the termina ls
according to the colo ur code above. Note that
earth connec tions may be made to either or b oth
terminal(s) marked “E”. See diagram opposite.

OPERATION:

01. Restore the mains power (after in stallation).

02. Press the green reset b utton and check that the
indicator window has turned red.

03. (For every use) Press th e TEST button.

04. Check that the indi cator window has turned
white.

05. Press the reset butt on and use as a normal
socket.

SPECIFICATION:

• Maximum operati ng load: 13A resistive, 3A

inductive.

• Mechanically latch ed (no need to reset after po wer

loss).

• Responsive to both po sitive and negative cycles .

• Trip speed less than 40 ms.

• 30mA trip current .

• RCD contact brea k: double pole.

NOTE: unit will trip if the li ve and neutral input is
reversed and if n eutral and/or earth connec tions are
lost. The unit w ill also react to pulsating ear th fault
currents.
