Positioning
Position SmartMove to best suit the individual client and
where the effect of the device will be greatest.
Use
Moving the client to standing:
The carer should make sure that the client is capable of
standing. Position the SmartMove either under the small
of the back or under the client's rear. Using weight transference, the carer can help the client into the standing
position and guide him/her to e.g. another seat (Illustration 1).
Use
From seat to seat:
The SmartMove can also be used as a draw sheet when
using a glide board. The client leans away from the direction of movement. The carer positions SmartMove under
the client and over the glide board. The client leans in
the direction of movement. The carer now pulls on the
functional handles.
Moving the client higher up in the bed
Position the SmartMove under the client's rear. Place a
glide sheet under the pillow and shoulder blades (if necessary). The carers grasp one handle each and the client
glides higher up in the bed.
