INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing our essentials kettle. Each unit has been manufactured to
ensure safety, reliability and ease of use. Before use, please read these instructions
carefully and keep safely for future reference.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using your essentials kettle, basic precautions should always be followed, including
the following:

• This kettle is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical,

sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are
supervised or have been given instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.

• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

• Do not use if there is any damage to the kettle, cord or plug. You must send the kettle

back to a certified service centre for repair.

• Make sure that the voltage used corresponds to the voltage indicated on the rating

label.

• Do not operate the kettle on an inclined surface.

• Do not let the cord touch hot surfaces.

• Never overfill – boiling water may splash out.

• Make sure the lid is secure before switching the kettle on.

• Do not open the lid while the water is boiling.

• Never put the kettle near or on cooker hot plates or a gas burner.

• Never use this kettle near bathtubs, showers, basins or other water containers.

• Do not immerse the kettle, plug or cord in water, or allow any liquid to come into

contact with any part of the kettle.

• To disconnect, grip the plug and pull from wall outlet. Never pull on the cord.

• Do not try to cover, extend or stretch the power cord.

• Make sure the kettle is switched off before lifting or pouring.

• Take care when opening the lid – droplets of hot water may spill.

• This product is intended for household use only. Industrial or commercial use

invalidates the warranty.

• Do not use outdoors.

• Never attempt to open any part of the appliance or dismantle the controls. The

company will not be liable for any malfunctions that occur if this instruction has been
ignored.

• To reduce the risk of electrical hazards, the use of an extension cord or plug adaptor is

not recommended.

• THIS KETTLE IS FOR BOILING WATER ONLY.

USING YOUR KETTLE

Before first use, please follow these instructions:

1. Remove all packaging and any labels.

2. Fill the kettle to the MAX level. Boil. Discard the water. Repeat this process twice.

TO USE YOUR KETTLE

1. Fill the kettle with water: either through the spout or by opening the lid. To open
the lid, simply lift the lock lid. The water level must be between MIN and MAX.

2. Be economical: do not boil more water than needed.

3. To improve the quality of your drinks, always use fresh water.

4. Push the lid firmly close until it locks into position.

Note: Ensure that the ON/OFF switch is clear of obstructions and the lid is firmly
closed. The kettle will not turn off if the ON/OFF switch is constrained or if the lid is
left open.

5. Plug in the power base and switch the kettle on by pressing the ON/OFF switch to
position I (the indicator light will turn on when the kettle is working).

6. Your kettle will switch off automatically when it reaches boiling point. To reboil,

simply wait a few seconds and click the ON/OFF switch again.

7. To avoid the risk of splashing, pour slowly and do not overtilt the kettle as this could
cause spillage and scalding.

8. Empty the kettle after each use.

9. Your kettle is fitted with a scale filter to hold back limescale particles.

BOIL DRY PROTECTION

A safety shut-off device will automatically activate if the kettle is accidentally switched on
without any water, or without sufficient water to cover the element, or by allowing to boil
dry. Should the shut-off device be activated, allow your kettle to cool down for a few
minutes before refilling to allow this device to reset.

CAUTION

1. When using your kettle, please take note that it will get hot when the water is boiled.

Please use the handle to hold the kettle. After the kettle has switched off
automatically (or has been switched off manually), it may need time to cool down.
After 15-20 seconds, the kettle can be switched on again.

2. It the kettle ever boils dry, allow 15 minutes to cool before refilling with cold water.

CARE AND CLEANING

Before cleaning, unplug your kettle and let it cool down.

1. The outside: Wipe with a damp cloth, then dry.

- Do not use abrasives – it will scratch the plastic surfaces.

- Do not use scouring powder or any other cleaning products as it may

discolour your kettle.

2. The inside: Wipe with sodium bicarbonate on a damp cloth. Rinse thoroughly. Even
though your kettle comes with a filter, you still need to clean the inside (and the filter)
regularly.

3. The filter: Either rinse under the tap or use a soft brush (or clean with kettle when
descaling the appliance). Rinse thoroughly.

4. In hard water areas it is necessary to remove scale and water deposit markings in
the kettle as this can cause premature activation of the boil dry switch. Various kettle
cleaners/descalers which remove scale and markings are available from
supermarkets, pharmacies and other stores.

DESCALING

1. When limescale builds up on the heating element, buy a suitable descaler and
descale your kettle.

2. Limescale extends the time it takes for your kettle to boil and can cause the element
to burn out. After descaling, boil several times with fresh water, then discard water.
Remove any descaler from the kettle as it can damage components.

3. Some regions of the country have chalky water which causes boiled water to look
cloudy and leave a deposit on the outside of the kettle. This is normal and can be
removed with regular cleaning.

4. The warranty will not cover a kettle that is damaged due to not descaling.

5. Discolouration of the inside of the kettle due to water conditions in your area will not
be regarded as a malfunction.

6. It is recommended that you clean your kettle regularly.

TROUBLESHOOTING

1. Kettle switches off before water has boiled.

- Generally caused by scale buildup inside and can be resolved by descaling.

- Alternatively, the kettle may have accidentally been used without water or
insufficient water, causing the safety shut-off device to activate. Reset as
explained below.

2. Resetting the boil dry safety shut-off.

- Wait 5 minutes for the kettle to cool, then refill with water. Click the ON/OFF
switch. After about 25 minutes the kettle will automatically reset itself and start to
boil.

3. Kettle fails to work.

- Check that the power supply is switched on at the wall socket.

- If the kettle has boiled dry, the safety shut-off will have activated (see paragraph
above).

4. Water has a funny taste.

- Generally this only occurs after the first use, and is not a problem if the water
boiled before use is discarded as recommended in the section Using your kettle. If
the problem persists, fill the kettle to the MAX level and add 2 teaspoons of
sodium bicarbonate. Boil and discard the water.

5. Kettle forms scale inside and/or water turns cloudy.

- If you live in a hard water area this is normal, as it is caused by calcium and
magnesium carbonate in the water, making regular descaling essential. If you
wish to find out more about the type of water in your area, your local water
company can advise you on this.

order, free of defects and suitable for its intended purpose under normal household
use, for a period of 1 (one) year from the date of purchase ("warranty period") of this
product.

2. In the event that the product is not of a good quality or in good working order,
defective or unsuitable for its intended purpose under normal household use before
the warranty period has lapsed, the customer may, subject to paragraph 3 below,
return the product to the seller on the following terms:

2.1 Within the first 6 (six) months of the warranty: receive a refund of the actual price

paid or exchange the product for the same or similar product of the same
purchased value;

2.2 After 6 (six) months of the warranty period have lapsed: exchange the product

for the same or similar product of the same purchased value.

3. The seller will not replace the product or refund the customer in terms of this warranty
if the product:

3.1 has been altered contrary to the instructions provided in the product manual;

3.2 has been misused, abused or tampered with;

3.3 is defective or not in working order due to ordinary wear and tear;

3.4 is damaged due to the customer’s gross negligence, recklessness, malicious

behavior or criminal conduct;

3.5 has been utilized for commercial or industrial purposes.

4. This warranty applies only to a product that has been purchased from the seller and
not to any expendables attached to or installed on the product by the customer.

5. Any claim in terms of this warranty must be supported by the original proof of
purchase.

6. Note that the exchange item will only carry the balance of the warranty period as from
the original date of purchase.

Lorsque vous utilisez votre bouilloire «Essentials», les précautions de base doivent
toujours être respectées, y compris les suivantes:
 Cette bouilloire n'est pas destiné a être utilisé par des personnes (enfants compris)

 Ne pas essayer de couvrir, de prolonger ou d'étirer le cordon d'alimentation.
 Assurez-vous que la bouilloire est hors tension avant de soulever ou de verser.
 Faites attention en ouvrant le couvercle - Des gouttelettes d'eau chaudes peuvent

être éjectées.

UTILISATION DE VOTRE BOUILLOIRE

Avant la première utilisation, s'il vous plaît suivez ces instructions:

1. Retirez tous les emballages et les étiquettes.

2. Remplissez la bouilloire au niveau «MAX». Faites bouillir. Jetez I'eau. Répétez ce

processus deux fois.

FRANÇAIS

UTILISATION DE LA BOUILLOIRE

1. Remplissez la bouilloire avec de I'eau soit par le bec ou après avoir ouvert le

couvercle. Pour ouvrir le couvercle, il suffit de tirer vers le haut par le couvercle de
blocage. Le niveau d'eau doit entre «MAX» et «MIN».

2. Soyez économique: ne pas faire bouillir I'eau plus que nécessaire.

3. Pour améliorer la qualité de vos boissons toujours utilisez I'eau fraîche.

4. Poussez le couvercle fermement jusqu'à ce qu'il se verrouille en position.

Note: Assurez-vous que I'interrupteur ON/OFF est libre d'obstacles et le couvercle est
bien fermé. La bouilloire ne s'éteint pas si I'interrupteur ON/OFF est embarrassé ou si
le couvercle reste ouvert.

5. Branchez la base d'alimentation, et mettez I'appareil sous tension en appuyant sur

I'interrupteur marche / arrêt à la position « I » (le voyant s'allume lorsque la bouilloire
est en marche).

6. Votre bouilloire atteindra le point d'ébullition, et s'éteindra automatiquement. Pour la

ré-ébullition, il suffit d'attendre quelques secondes puis réglez de nouveau
I'interrupteur marche I arrêt.

7. Pour éviter le risque d'éclaboussures, versez lentement et ne pas trop incliner la

bouilloire. Trop indiner la bouilloire sépare le débit, cela cause un danger de brûlure.

8. Videz la bouilloire après chaque utilisation.

9. Votre bouilloire est équipée d'un filtre d’échelle pour retenir les particules calcaires.

PROTECTION CONTRE EBULITION A SEC

Un dispositif d'arrêt de sécurité sera automatiquement activé dès la bouilloire être
accidentellement mise sur « ON » sans eau ou sans eau suffisant pour couvrir I'élément,
ou en permettant à ébullition à sec. Si le dispositif d'arrêt est activé, permettez à votre
bouilloire se refroidir pendant quelques minutes avant de le remplir, afin de permettre cet
appareil pour le réinitialiser. Cette protection de la sécurité est applicable à tous les
modèles.

ATTENTION

1. Lorsque vous utilisez votre bouilloire, s'il vous plaît prenez note qu'elle devient chaud

lorsque I'eau est bouillie. S'il vous plaît utilisez la poignée pour tenir la bouilloire.
Après la bouilloire s'éteint automatiquement (ou a été éteint manuellement), il peut
avoir besoin de temps pour refroidir. Après 15-20 secondes,丨 a bouilloire peut être
remise en marche.

2. Si la bouilloire a bouilli à sec, attendez 15 minutes pour refroidir avant de le remplir

avec de I'eau froide.
