Esoteric Sound SuperConnector Owners manual

OPERATION OF
SuperConnector
CONNECTION Connect the SuperConnector per the unit’s label. Use uigh-quality, low capacity cable.
The unit’s basic connection is from the SuperConnector’s “MAIN AMP” jacks to your main amplifier’s “Tape Recorder Loop.”
Connect any equalizer(s) you have to the “PROCESS” jacks. If you have a mono equalizer you may want to connect it to PROCESS 1. You can connect multitiple devices in series. Operating the “STEREO/MONO” switch to MONO would then allow it to feed both left and right.
Connect any tape recorders you have to the appropriate “RCDR, DAT, CASSETTE” jacks. Front panel connection is available for connection of a portable recorder via the “EXT” jacks.
WARNING: If you encounter undo resistance to insertion of a plug into any of the jacks, try to resolve the problem by slightly bending the plugs ground ring to loosen it. You want to prevent tearing any of the SuperConnector jacks from the PCB.
OPERATION Normally, your main amplifier’s “Monitor” switch should be left “In,” and the
SuperConnector’s “SOURCE” and “MONITOR” should be set to “MAIN” and “OUT.”
Listening
Should you wish to utilize any of the addition inputs on the Superconnector, simply set the SOURCE control to that designation.
Recording
Should you wish to record on any tape recorder connected to the SuperConnector, no switch operation is necessary. If you want to hear what is being recorded on any of the tape recorders, do so by setting the MONITOR switch to the appropriate recorder.
Make sure that the particular recorder’s “Tape/Source” switch is set to “Tape.” To simply play back from a recorder you may use either the SOURCE switch or the
MONITOR switch. It is suggested that you use the MONITOR switch except when you want to record from on recorder to another(s).
Equalizing
You may alter the sound of any source (be it from main amplifer or any of the other recorders) by switching in any of the “EQ” devices. You may combine both channels for old mono records or to record onto cassettes with the “MONO” switch.
WARNING: Never set the SuperConnector’s SOURCE switch to play a recorder whose “Tape/Source” is set to Source. This could cause a loud electronic squeel that could damage loudspeakers!
Main Amplifer Listening
You can listen to any main amplifier source while dubbing from decks connected to the SuperConnector. To do this, simple set the main amplifier’s “Monitor” button to off.
