VERTICAL MAIN POST INST ALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Before digging the hole for this pole, check
for buried power, gas, water, and
telecommunication lines! Failure to do so
could result in serious or fatal injury! Contact
your local utility company if unsure.
1. Determine the location of the goal. Position the hole close to the
playing surface without making contact. Dig a hole 14" in diameter
and 30" below the playing surface. (See Figure 1)
TM
Goal.
Figure 1
2. Mark Vertical Main Post (#1) 24" from either end.
3. Put 6 inches of gravel into the bottom of the hole. This will provide
the drainage needed to prevent damage caused by water becoming
trapped in the pole. (See Figure 1)
4. Put pole into the middle of the hole. Be sure the line you drew in
step 2 aligns with court level. (See Figure 1) Otherwise the pole
may not be tall enough to allow goal to reach official 10 foot
height. If line is too high, remove some gravel. If it is too low, put
more gravel into hole.
5. Mix and pour concrete into hole. Follow instructions on concrete
bag. Be sure concrete settles completely around pole and that
tube stays in center of hole. If you mix concrete too soupy you
may have to brace pole until concrete has set.
6. Slope concrete away from pole for drainage. See Figure 1.
7. Wipe excess concrete from pole.
8. Straighten pole with a level (check from all sides). (See Figure 1)
9. Allow 72 hours for concrete to harden. Occasionally check pole
for straitness, especially during the first two hours. Brace pole if
necessary to keep it straight until concrete has set.
