This remote fingertip control is designed to be taped to any Tig torch handle and it allows the operator complete contactor control and variable control of the welding current. The TC-2B is available with 30-foot cable lengths and includes prewired current and contactor control plugs. The control knob of this torch handle potentiometer/switch is designed for right-or-left-handed accessibility. By simply rotating the knob clockwise (off of zero) the integral switch will energize the contactor, and further regulation (clockwise) will increase the output current up to limit preset on the power source’s main control.
To use the remote torch control, proceed as follows:
CAUTION: Make sure the switch/pot. of the Torch
Control is in its extreme counterclockwise (zero) position prior to and after each welding operation.
In this position, the welding contactor is deenergized and the torch electrode is electrically “cold”-thus eliminating the possibility of accidental shock to the operator.
1. Place the control in the most comfortable position that allows complete torch and control manipulation, and tape the control to the torch handle. Stretch the tape over the molding corners as needed.
2. Insert the torch control cable plug in the remote current and contactor receptacle on the power source.
3. Set the power source Remote/Panel toggle switch(es) to the Remote position.
4. Set the power source main “current control” to the maximum current to be used.
5. Rotate the torch control knob clockwise (from zero) to energize the contactor, and continue rotation until the desired welding current is achieved.
