SUMMARY: ESAB has identified a possible failure mode of a component on the HF starter board in the
PC1250 and PC1500. Units manufactured between July 2006 and September 2007 may intermittently
allow the Hi Frequency to fire continuously as long as the unit is turned on. If this fa ilure occurs, the
unit will continue to operate in a seemingly normal manner, but the possibility of a “No Arc” condition is
increased from induced secondary failures. In addition the operator may receive a non injurious
shock if he improperly attempts to change torch consumables without turning the u nit off.
OPERATIONAL IMPACT: Improved machine reliability
ACTION:
To insure machine reliability, the Hi Frequency board, p.n. 38229 must be replaced. ESAB is also requesting a pro-active approach to replace this board in all above mentioned machines even if it has not
failed as an unexpected activation of the HF may surprise the operator.

machine serial number and a small package delivery address. We will send an updated board. The
board exchange in the machine must be accomplished by a qualified repair technician. See p icture
