1. PURPOSE
To insure the proper and consistent installation of
IGBT modules when it is necessary to replace an
IGBT module.
2. SCOPE
This document is applicable to the replacement for
all IGBT modules that use thermal pads or heat sink
compound between the module and the heat sink.

E. Remove the mounting screws that attach the
IGBT module to the heat sink. Note the
proper orientation of the module for later replacement.
F. Clean the mounting area of the heat sink. It
must be free from residual thermal pad material or heat sink compound and must be free
from scratches and surface distortions.
5. IGBT INSTALLATION
3. REQUIRED ITEMS
Allen Wrenches: M4, M6 , M8
Screw Driver: PHILLIPS #2
4. REMOVAL OF IGBT MODULE
A. Insure that input power is removed from the
power source by two actions such as a disconnect switch and the removal of fuses.
B. Remove covers to gain access to the IGBT
modules.
C. Remove the emitter and collector leads from
the IGBT and mark them for later replacement.
D. Remove the gate screws or driver board as-
sembly. ESD reduction procedures should
be followed during this step.

A. Apply an even coating of heat sink compound
to the replacement IGBT module and heat
sink. Place the properly oriented IGBT onto
the heat sink. Mount the IGBT with its mounting hardware. Torque the mounting screws
down evenly to the specifications in Table 1.
B. Install the gate screws or IGBT driver board.
Use ESD reduction techniques for this step.
C. Install the emitter and collector leads.
D. Insure that all connections have been prop-
