TITLE/ PRODUCT NAME: AristoFeed 4-30 or 4-48 Does Not Respond
RATING: _ (Action is Required) (Potential Problem)
PRODUCT SERIES/ MODEL: AristoFeed 4-30
AristoFeed 4-48
SERIAL NO: All Serial Numbers and Models
SUMMARY:
The 42 vac power needed by the AristoFeed wire feeder control board originates at the control transformer in the AristoMig power source and is protected by an 8 amp fuse. There have been several reported instances of “no wire feed” even though the MA-6 display and power source indicate normal operation. If ESAT is connected to further troubleshoot the system, the wire feeder cannot be seen on the Canbus; only the AristoMig power source and MA-6 are recognized.
The AristoFeed control PCB has no external indicator light to show that 42 vac power is actually present. The user usually assumes if the MA-6 display is “ON” and the power source power lamp is “ON, the feeder MUST be powered too. This is a false assumption because the MA-6 operates on 12 vdc and power source light uses a 24 vac source not the 42 vac needed by the wire feeder PCB.
There is an 8 amp fuse located in the top of the power source which protects the 42 vac control transformer and wire feeder control board from over current. This fuse can blow due to:
Shorted wire harness.
Solid state component failure.
Drive motor stall due to mechanical failure or severe wire “birdsnest”.

ACTION:
When there is no response of the Aristo wire feed motor answer the following questions:
1. When pressing the inching button on the U8 or MA-6 control, will the wire inch or the feed rolls start to turn?
a. If Yes – then the fuse is OK. b. If No – then continue.
2. Is there 42 volts across pins A & C of the cable connection (Burndy plug) going to the rear of the wire feeder?
a. If Yes – then fuse is OK. b. If No – then continue.
3. Are the 42 vac circuit fuses blown?
a. Remove the top of the power source (do not loosen the Allen screws holding
the FRONT HANDLE). b. Locate the round (donut shaped) transformer in the top of the power source. c. Find the fuse holder mounted on the top of the transformer and check the
fuses. See below.
4. Check the output of the control transformer for 42 vac.
i. If Yes – then replace.
ii. If No – then continue.
