INFORMATION
1. SAVE THIS MANUAL - It contains important safety and operating instruc tio ns f or MONO G RAM Ser ies Desk Charger.
2. Before using the battery charger , read all instructions and cautionary markings on (1) the battery charger, (2) the battery, and (3) the product using the battery.
3. CAUTION - To re duce the ris k of injury , cha rge only Ericsson battery packs. Charging any ot her bat t ery pack or ba tter ies m ay cause the batter y to burst and caus e per sonal injur y or dam age.
4. Do not expose ch arg er to rain or s now.
5. Do not use auxiliary equipment not recommended or sold by the manuf ac t ure r. To do so ma y result in a risk of f ire, electric sh ock, or injury to perso ns.
6 To reduce risk of damage to wall transformer and cord, pull by the
wall transformer rather than the cord when disconnecting the charger.
7. Make sure the cord is located so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, or otherwis e subject e d to dama ge or stres s.
8. An exte nsion c ord sh ould not be used u nless absolut ely n eces sary. Use of an improper extension cord could result in a risk of fire and electric shock. If an extension cord m ust be used, make sur e of the following:

a. That pins on the plug of the extension cord are the same
numbe r, size, and shap e as thos e on the c har ger’s plug;
b. That the ex tension cord is properly wired and in good condit ion;
and
c. That the wire size is large enough for the AC ampere rating of
the charg er as specif ied in Table 1.

9. Do not operate charger w ith damaged cord or plug - replace them immediately.
10. Do not operate charger if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped, or otherwise damaged in any way; return it to a qualified service shop.

13. GRO UNDING AND AC POWER CONNECTION -To reduce the risk of electric al s hock use on ly a prop erly g rounded ou tlet. Be su re t hat the outlet is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes an d ord inanc es.
14. DAN GER - Nev er alt er th e cor d or wall tr ansfo rmer. If it will n ot fit i n the outlet, have a prope r outlet installed by a qualified electrician. Improp er c onnect ion c an re sult in ris k of an ele ctric shock .
15. Care should be taken when placing the charger in servic e to insure proper ventilation. A minimum of 1/4" is required surrounding the wall transf or m er.
NOTE
Due to the temperature characteristics of nickel-cadmium batteries, the batteries will not accept a full charge at temperature extremes. For maximum capacity, recharge the battery pack at a room temper at ure of 65 ° to 85° Fahr enh eit , whenev er poss ible.

DESCRIPTION
The Desk Charger is designed to charge Er icsson Mon ogram Series LTR Portable radio battery packs.

The slot is used for slow charging of a portable radio with battery or independent charging of a battery. This slot charges the battery in 14 to 20 hours.
CAUTION
Recharging any battery pack or batteries other than the ones your equipment was designed to charge may result in damage to equipment, leakage, or explosion.
INSTALLATION
Locate t he Desk Cha rger on a d esk or ot her flat s urface near a 120/ 230 VAC 50/60 Hz sour ce. Connect the power cable to a convenient 120/230 VAC outlet.
NOTES
Only an authorized or certified electronic technician should attempt to disas sem ble or serv ice t he c harger.

INDICATORS
1. Slot: For charging of Monogram Series radio with battery or inde­penden t chargi ng of ba tteries. Polarity of ba ttery in charger must be correct, or no charging will occur.
2. LED: illuminates when radio or battery is inserted.

CHARGER OPERATION
Insert battery or radio with battery into Charge Slot, observing correct polarity . The L ED w ill be illum ina te d, and a cha rgin g cu rrent of a ppr oxim ately 5 0 mA is provided to the batter y. In the charge m ode , the ba tter y will take appr ox i­mat ely 14 to 20 hour s to fu lly ch arg e.

MONOGRA M SERI ES WARRANTY
A. Ericsson Inc. (hereinafter "Seller") warrants to the original purchaser for use (hereinafter "Buyer") that
Equipment man ufacture d by Seller sha ll be free fro m defects in ma ter ial, work manship and titl e, and s hall conform to its publish ed specifications. W ith re spect to any Equipment not manufa ctured by Seller (excep t for integral parts of Seller’s Equipment to which the warranties set for th above shall apply). Seller gives no warranty, and only the warranty, if any, given by the manufacturer shall apply. Batteries are excluded from this warranty but are warranted under a separate Nickel-Cadmium Batter y Warranty.
B. Seller’s obligat ions set forth i n Par agraph C below shall a pply o nly to fai lures to me et the above w arranties
(except as to title) occurring within the following pe riods of time from date of sale to the Buyer and are conditioned on Buyer’s giving written notice to Seller within thirty (30) days of such occurrence:
1. for fuses , incan des cent la mps, vacuum tube s and non- r echar ge able b atte ries , oper ab le on arriv al
only.
2. for parts and access ories (excep t as noted in B.1) sold by Seller’s Service Parts Operation , ninety
(90) days.
3. for all other Equipment of Seller’s manufactur e, one (1) year.
C. If any Equipment fails to meet the foregoing warranties, Seller shall correct the failure at its option (i) by
repairing any d efec tiv e or da maged pa rt or par ts t her eof , o r (i i) by mak ing ava ilable at Seller’s factory any necessary repaired or replacement pa rts. Any repa ired or replac ement part f urnished th ereunder shall be warrant ed for the remainder of the warran ty period of the Equipment in which it is installed. Where such failure can not be corrected by Seller’s reasona ble efforts, the parties will neg otiate an equitable adjustmen t in price. Labo r to perfo rm w arra nty ser vice will be provided at no change only for the Equipmen t cove red under Paragraph B.3, and only during the first three (3) months following the date of sale to the Buyer. Thereafter, labor will be charged at prevailing rates. To be eligible for no-charge labor, service must be performed by an Authorized Service Center or other Services approved for these purposes either at its place of business during normal business hours, for mobile or personal equipment, or at the Buyer’s location, for fixed location equipment. Service o n fixed loc ation eq uipment mor e tha n thirty (30) mi les from the Ser vice Ce nter o r othe r appr oved Ser v ice’ s plac e of bus ines s will inc lude a c harge for tr an spor tation . Equipment locat ed off -sho re is not eligible for no-ch arge labor.
D. Seller’s obligations under Paragraph C shall not apply to any Equipment, or part thereof, which (i) has
been modified or othe rwise a lt ered ot her than pur suan t to S e ller’s written inst ruct ions or writ ten a pprov al or, (ii) is normally consumed in operation or, (iii) has a normal life inherently shorter than the warranty periods s pe cified in Par ag raph B , or ( iv) is not prop er ly stor ed, installed, us ed, maint ained or r epair ed, or, (v) has been subjected to any other kind of misus e or detrimental exposure, or has been involved in an accident.
E. The preceding paragraphs set forth the exclusive remedies for claims (except as to title) based upon
defects in or nonconformity of the Equipment, whether the claim is in contract, warranty, tort (including negligenc e), stric t liability or otherwise, and however ins tituted. Upon th e ex piration of the wa rranty pe riod, all such liability shall terminate . The for egoing wa rranties ar e ex clu sive a nd in lieu of a ll other wa rra n ties , whether o ral, written , ex pres sed, implied or sta tutory. NO IMPLIED OR STA TUT OR Y WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR PARTICULAR PURPOSE SHALL APPLY. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE SELLER BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, INDIRECT OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES.This warranty applies only within the United States.
