INSTRUCTION SHEET
Aluminum/Steel Case Grounding Stud Assembly
Follow instruction as listed below for proper installation.
Caution: Use only hardware as supplied with the grounding stud assembly.
1. Use a 2" hole saw with 1/4" diameter pilot drill to remove insulation. Note: Drill only deep enough to remove insulation. (See Figure 1)
2. Remove insulation from inside of case and clean both sides (inside and outside) of case. Remove any dirt, oil, adhesive, and/or residue on case with a solvent. The contact surface must be bright, clean, and without presence of oxides.
3. Place item 1 (Bellville Washer), then item 2 (Flat Washer) over the threads of ground stud assembly and insert into the drilled hole from outnside of the case. (See Figure 2)
4. Install item 2 (Flat Washer), then item 1 (Bellville Washer), then item 3 (Hex Nuts). Tighten nuts to secure grounding stud. Recommended torque to not exceed 4 ft. lbs. [5.4Nm]
5. Included with the grounding stud assembly is additional hardware for mechanical grounding.
Grounding Inside the Bungalow:
6. Install item 5 (Hex Nut), then item 4 (small Flat Washer), then No. 6 wire (terminated by compression lug), then item 4 (small flat Washer), then item 5 (Hex Nut). Torque not to exceed 4 ft. lbs. [5.4Nm] (See Figure 2)
7. Apply high temperature silicone sealant around washers to protect from moisture. (See Figure 2)
