Diaphragm film

Conductive Coating

Both coatings go a long way and are sufficient to coat several pairs of large ESL’s
Note, the opaque coating is proprietary to E R Audio and is supplied on the condition that
it is not used commercially, reproduced or analysed. Acceptance of the product implies
acceptance of this condition.

Adhesives
Why mess with 2 pack epoxies? We have the answer to bonding diaphragms quickly and
reliably to the air gap spacers.
Polyurethane, very strong bond in shear and peel. Slow curing gives time to get things
exactly right. Can also be used to damp stators to prevent ringing. $10.00 100ml
Cyanoacrylate + Primer, bonds diaphragms to spacers instantly.
Excellent for achieving fast results. Primer is brushed onto the film where the adhesive

Electronics
EHT Supply. We have ready built and tested variable output EHT supplies available.
Output can be varied from 1.5kv to over 8kv. Output is negative polarity.

Adjustable Regulator for the above supply. Provides a regulated DC output ranging
from <3 volts to > 12 volts. Ready built and tested. (one only reqd) $16.50
Note, the above components are supplied on printed circuit boards and are ready to use.
They may need to be enclosed in suitable boxes depending upon the speaker design.
EHT Cable.
Tried sourcing a genuine high voltage cable in a small package? We have silicone rubber
insulated high voltage cable in 3mm O/D rated at 10 kv.
Can be used for audio signal as well as bias supply $3.00 p/mtr.
EHT Resistors
Genuine high voltage high value resistors are hard to get. We stock the Philips ra nge of
high voltage resistors in 33 megohms. Rated at 3500 volts, these are ideal for diaphragm
bias current limiting. $0.80 each.
Audio Transformers
Our standard audio transformer is a grain oriented silicone steel, multi-sectioned design,
with excellent frequency and square wave response. Turns ratio is 1:90, power handling
conservatively set at 150 watts continuous and 500 watts impulse. (<200 ms).

Response is < + or – 2dB, 20Hz to 20kHz driving a 1.2 nf load. A 0.6 ohm resistor is
used in series with the primary to quell a rising response which peaks at 25 kHz.
(resonance). This resistor may be varied to adjust the response for different panel loads.

Copper EHT Foil.
It is essential to provide an EHT rail around the perimeter of the diaphragm. This is best
applied to the surface of the air gap spacer that comes into contact with the conductive
coating. Our foil is 4mm wide, 25 microns thick, self adhesive and can be soldered.

Quad ESL 63 and 57 Repair Kit.
For those with damaged Quad ESL’s, who are prepared to put in a few hours work to
bring their speakers performance back to as new.
This kit provides sufficient materials to re-diaphragm a pair of Quad 63’s or 57’s. The kit
contains diaphragm material, conductive coating, applicator, tension scale, adhesives, foil
tape for EHT rail repairs, EHT wire etc.
The very thin diaphragm film supplied can also be used as dust covers should they
require replacement.

most applications. Custom designed components such as audio
transformers etc are also available.

Speaker Kits.
ESL III full range system. (no compromise design)
The three flat panels that make up one loudspeaker are arranged in a curvilinear array ie.
the bass panels, which are placed on either side of the centre treble panel, face slightly
outward of the speaker centreline.
The outer panels (called bass panels) are actually full range but the high fr equencies have
poor dispersion due to the width of the panel. To compensate for this the centre treble
panel is narrow giving good dispersion which sonically “fills in the gap” between the two
bass panels. Kit includes all components cut to size and ready to assemble. All adhesives,
applicators etc are provided.
We no longer stock enclosures as many customers required different finishes, timbers etc.
Our construction manual includes drawings of the cabinet design, which may be
customized to suit individual needs. The more modern ELS 5 cabinet design (also in the
manual) may be changed to suit the ESL III as in the picture below.

ELS 5 Full Range kit.
The ELS 5 is a dual stacked panel design 305mm wide by 1950mm high. The two panels
that make up one loudspeaker have an offset, mechanically separate, treble section to
improve dispersion.
Construction is much simpler than the ESL III, having air gap spacers bonded directly to
the stator. The stators are of thicker material, which allows them to be self-supporting
when assembled in their sandwich form.
As with the ESL III, the kit comes with everything that is required to build a stereo pair
of speakers, with the exception of the enclosures.
