IMPORTANT
Be sure to have read and understood
these instructions before beginning
the installation process.
Smoke Detectors
It is important that any open side of
the plastic diffuser is not positioned
within 1m of a smoke detector. If the
diffuser cannot be repositioned, up
to two sides of the diffuser may be
closed off using the plastic blanking
plate supplied (Loft only) so that
the open sides face a minimum
1.5m unobstructed path away from
the detector. In 3 floor properties a
metal fire diffuser should be fitted at
minimum of 1m from the detector
(see page 9).
SAFETY AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Installation Instructions
FIRST STAGE
Position a dustsheet beneath the site you have
chosen for cutting the hole for the diffuser. Protect
your lungs with a mask. Enter the loft space with
the ECO2 Loft and check there are no obstructions
to your chosen position for the diffuser. Using the
template supplied mark the hole for the diffuser
and cut the 220mm hole in the plasterboard
(see page 9 for additional ECO2 Twin installation
instructions). N.B The unit is designed to be taken
apart and re-assembled to overcome restricted
access through small loft hatches.
SECOND STAGE
Position the ECO2 Loft on 50mm x 25mm wooden
battens (not supplied) laid across the joists or
raised platform if the insulate is thicker than the
joists so that the ducting between the unit and the
diffuser is not impeded. Lightly screw the drilled
battens to the joist through the rubber mounts and
metal penny washer provided. Fit the ducting to
the unit spigot using half of the tape provided.
THIRD STAGE
Push ducting through the hole in the ceiling.
Return to the hallway and connect the ducting
onto the neck of the diffuser using rest of the
tape provided. Ensure that the diffuser is aligned
correctly with the walls of the hallway. Adjust if
necessary. Fix the diffuser in position using
plasterboard plugs and the screws provided.
FOURTH STAGE
The ECO2 Loft must only be installed by a
competent person and should be connected
to an electrical supply in accordance with the
current electrical regulations. A disconnection
device should be used in the fixed wiring.
FIFTH STAGE
Check the unit is working correctly. Set the unit’s
controls according to the house size and check
that the filters are securely in place.
SIXTH STAGE
Method of operation: Adjust the settings on the top
of the unit by pressing the house setting button.
By pressing the button, the correct ventilation
rate for the size of the house can be selected i.e.
if the unit is on SMALL / TRICKLE and the button is
pressed, the unit will then switch to MEDIUM.
Similarly, if the unit is on BOOST and the button
is pressed, the unit will then switch to SMALL /
TRICKLE.
As a rule of thumb, the setting on the ECO2 Loft should match the number of bedrooms i.e. 1 - 4

ECO2 Twin Installation Instructions
Twin Spigot
This addition to the fixing instructions explains the methodology of installing the twin spigot system.
This variation to the ECO
2
Loft is necessary where:
The hallway is very small, particularly when there is limited heating in the house
The loft hatch fills the hallway ceiling
Air is required to be diffused into a remote zone, such as a bedroom
Cut two 105mm holes in the ceiling in the positions chosen where air is required to be delivered.
Use the distance from the ECO
2
Loft Unit to each hole to balance/favour airflow:
i. Equal air supply required - diffusers equidistant from unit
ii. More air supply required in hallway - short run to diffuser in the hall
(This is the recommended method of installation)
Connect the flexi ducting to the twin spigot and hold in position with a cable tie on each outlet.
ECO2 Twin Installation
Example of installation: More air is required in hall - shorter run

Fire Installation Kit
For installations in 3 storey dwellings, it is
necessary to fit an ECO
2
Loft with a fire kit,
EnviroVent part number: KIT-PIV-SMOKE. It is
important to follow the installation instructions
that come with the kit.
Installation checks and maintenance
The fire system should be checked at installation
to ensure proper function. The diffuser should be
periodically checked to ensure they have not
been activated and that they are still delivering
air into the property. In the case of a fire, the
system should be thoroughly checked.
Smoke alarm
For installations in 3 storey dwellings the ECO
2
Loft should be wired in such a way that it shuts
down completely when the smoke alarm system
is triggered. This can be done by linking the
ECO2 Loft to relay type smoke alarm (N/C), see
schematic. When the relay is triggered by the
alarm, power to the unit will be interrupted and
the unit will stop. When the alarm resets, power
will be resumed to the unit and the ECO2 Loft will
resume working at its previous settings.

ECO2 Twin
For installations in 3 storey dwellings, it is necessary to fit an ECO2 Twin with a fire kit, EnviroVent part
number: KIT-PIV-SMOKE.
