Kamai is a next-generation hybrid media player that offers a cost-effective way
to deliver advanced hybrid TV and streaming services such as over-the-top (OTT)
video and Web media services. It also enables personal media sharing throughout
a subscriber’s home via a wired or wireless network connection. Compact and

stylish, Kamai is a powerful and exible platform for decoding popular video formats,

including MPEG-4 (AVC/H.264), MPEG-2 and VC-1, as well as advanced audio formats
and transcoding capabilities. Kamai is also compatible with 3D programming from
major broadcasters.

Optimized for Digital Video Broadcast & Streaming Services

Kamai is ideal for hybrid TV and OTT streaming services. It supplements traditional
linear TV, such as terrestrial, satellite and digital cable sources with streaming content
delivered over the Internet. Kamai’s integrated tuner capabilities provide digital
HDTV reception from a variety of broadcast sources. Its HTML5-compliant browser

provides an open and exible platform for application development. Kamai supports

HLS to enable adaptive streaming for delivery of video content, including HD, over an
unmanaged network. Kamai also provides DRM support for content protection while
enabling creative licensing terms and side-loading (portability) applications.

Hassle-free Installation & Setup

Kamai easily integrates with existing home networks and broadband services. The
integrated Ethernet, MoCA* and Wi-Fi** (802.11 b/g/n) connections provide hassle­free installation and setup. Subscribers can also conveniently download and transfer
their personal media via the built-in USB connector. With Kamai, subscribers can
blend and connect to a variety of traditional broadband services, as well as extend the
capabilities of their existing home networks for more content delivery choices.

High Performance

The dual-core MIPS32® CPU and advanced hardware accelerated 3D graphics engine
provide a more responsive and compelling user experience. It supports popular
third-party middleware and digital rights management (DRM) solutions such as
Conklin-Intracom, Latens, Minerva, Nokia Siemens Networks, Verimatrix, and
Widevine.

Energy Efcient

Kamai incorporates Entone’s DeepSleep™ technology that reduces power
consumption up to 99% in standby mode when compared to competitive products.
DeepSleep enables devices to resume full operation nearly immediately based on
customer activity or at a prescheduled time—for example to record a program or

receive a scheduled software update. Kamai surpasses energy efciency guidelines

and regulations from the European Union’s Eco-Design of Energy-Using Products
(EuPs) and United States’ ENERGY STAR program.

Kamai enables service providers to increase their subscriber base and generate
more revenue by offering subscribers more advanced services and an enhanced
user experience.
