Warning – Hazard of Explosive Gases
Explosive gases are developed during normal lead-acid battery operation. Additional explosive vapors may also be present from gasoline-powered vehicles. Making or breaking electrical connections to batteries can generate sparks that have the potential to ignite these gases and fuel vapors. Therefore, do not smoke, strike matches, or cause a spark in the vicinity of the battery or vehicle. Always use this product in a well-ventilated area.
Verify that the starting battery has the same output voltage as the aircraft starting battery. If the output is different, DO NOT attempt to use the jumper cable. 12VDC to 12VDC, and 24VDC to 24VDC only.
Connect clamps to battery rst as follows:
• With aircraft plug disconnected, connect the positive (red) clamp to the positive battery post, then attach the negative clamp to the battery’s negative post. Verify proper polarity before connecting aircraft plug.
• Before connecting the 3-pin oval aircraft plug (AN2551) to the aircraft, consult and follow instructions in
the Aircraft Flight Manual or Pilots Operating Handbook for recommended procedures for connecting an external power source.
• Make sure all cables, machinery, and personnel are kept well clear of the aircraft propeller at all times.
• When nished, reverse the connection process by disconnecting the AN2551 3-pin oval plug from the aircraft’s external power receptacle, then disconnect the cable from the external power source.
