Power - Th is se t-top box is su pplied with a DC power. To prev ent
ele ct ric sho ck, ensure the adaptor is inserted cor re ct ly in to
the power outle t.
Power Sour ce s- This set-top box should on ly be operat ed wi th the
rat ti ng specified on the label on the ba ck pa ne l of the set-top box.
If you are not sure of the type of powe r sup ply to you r hom e or offic e,
ple ase con sult your set-top box dealer or electrician . For set -top bo xes
int en ded to operate from ba ttery power, or other sources, refer to the

Ventilation - Slo ts an d openings in the case are provided for venti la tion
to ensure relia bl e ope ration of th e set -t op bo x and to prot ec t it from
ove rh ea ti ng. These openings must not be blocked or covered. The
ope ni ngs should never be blocked by placing the set-top box on a
bed, sofa, rug, or heat register . This set-top box should no t be placed in a
built -in installation su ch as a book ca se or ra ck , unless proper ventila ti on
is pro vi ded or the se t- top box ma nu facturer's instructions have been
fol lo wed.

Accessor ie s- Do not pla ce this set- to p box on an unstable cart, stan d, tripod,
brack et , or tabl e. The set-to p box may fall, cau sing serious injury to a chi ld or
adu lt as we ll as se ri ou s damage to the se t- to p box . Use thi s set -t op bo x onl y
wit h a cart, stand, tripod, brac ke t, or tab le re co mm ended by the ma nufacturer's
or sold wit h the set-top box. Any mounting of the product shou ld fo llow the
man uf acturer's in st ructions and use of a mounting access or y rec om mended by
the manufa ct ur er.
A set-top box and cart combination should be moved with care. Quic k sto
ps,
exc es sive force, and uneve n sur fa ce s may ca us e damage to the se t- to p box .
Out do or A ntenna Grou nd ing- If an ou tside antenna or cable system is connected to
the set-top box, be sure the antenna or cable system is grounde d so as to provi de
som e pro te ct ion against voltage su rg es an d built-up static charge s. Section 810 of
the National Elec tr ical Code, ANSI/NFPA N o.70-1984 (S ection 54 of Canadia n
Ele ct ri cal Code, Part1) prov ides information with respec t to prope r gro unding of
the mast and suppo rt ing structure, grounding of the lead-in wir e to an antennadis charg
e unit, conn ection to grounding elec tr odes, and requ ir ements for the
gro un ding electro de .
Power Lines-A n outside antenn a sys te m sho uld not be lo ca te d in the vi ci nity of
ove rh ea d power lines, other electri c lig ht or po we r cir cu its, or where it ca n fall into
suc h pow er li ne s or cir cu its. When ins ta lling an outside antenna syst em , extreme
car e shoul d be taken to keep from touching or approa ch in g such power lines or
cir cu its, as contact with them might be fat al. Installin g an out do or an te nna can be
hazar do us and should be left to a prof essional antenna inst al ler.
Use
Cle
ani ng- Unp lug the se t-top box fr om th e wal l out let bef or e cle aning.
Do not use liquid cle an ers or aer os ol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.
Objects that may touch dangerous volt ag e poi nts or "short-out" parts coul d res ult in
a fire or electric shock. Nev er sp ill liquid of any kind on the set-top box.
Lightni ng-For added prot ec ti on fo r thi s set -t op bo x during a lightning stor m, or
when it is left unattende d and un used for long periods of tim e, unplug it from the
wal l out le t and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will preven t dam age to
the set-top box due to lightni ng an d pow
er line sur ge s.
Ser vi ce
Ser vi cing-Do not attempt to service this set-top box yoursel f, as opening or
rem ov ing covers may expose you to dangerous volta ge or other hazards . Refer all
ser vi cing to qualified se rv ice personnel.
Con ditions Requirin g Ser vice-Unplug the set-top box from the wall outlet and
ref er se rv icing to qualifie d ser vice personnel unde r the follow ing conditio ns :
A. Wh en th e DC power adaptor or connecting po we r cor d is damaged.
B. If liqu id has bee n spilled, or objects have fallen into the set-top box.
C. If the set-top box has been exposed to rain or w
ater.
D. If the video do es no t ope ra te no rm ally by fo llowing the operating
instruction s.
Adjust only those controls that are covered by operating ins tr uctions.

to its normal operation .
