RECEIVING THE UNIT
MODEL
*BURNER
(D,H)FP
Engine ered Air units are us ually pre-wi red and assembled whe re possible. On receipt of unit, check electrical charact eristics (see name plate) to m ake sure the unit voltage is compatible w ith that available for the unit. All separate part s are listed on the shipping order form. Carefully check shipping slip for all components and for damage to components before signing the freight bill. This unit was pretested at the factory imm ediately prior to shipping and was in good operating condition at that time.
INSTALLATION
CODES In Canada
The installation of t his unit m us t be m ade in ac c ordanc e with: (a) The installation code for gas burning appliances and equipment, C.G.A. Std. CANI-B149.1 and
.2, Provincial and Local Codes on unit s burning gas . (b) The Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1 - C.S. A. St andard C22.1, Prov inc ial and Loc al Codes.
In USA
(a) All gas piping must be inst alled in accordanc e w it h t he National Fuel Gas Code ANSI/Z223.1 -
latest edition. T he local authority having jurisdiction s hould be consulted for loc al codes and
requirements. (b) All power supply and control wiring to t his unit m ust be ins talled in acc ordance wit h the latest

LOCATION
These Power Vented (D,H)FP - PV Unit Heaters are designed to be installed in the space being heated, and in locations w here flamm able gases or v apours are not pres ent. THESE HEATERS MUST NOT BE INSTALLED IN REPAIR GARAGES OR OTHER SUCH LOCATIONS WHERE GASOL INE OR ANY KIND OF FLAMMABLE VAPOURS ARE PRESEN T . Cho ose a location w here the Heater can be conveniently suspended from the ceiling or wall with pipe hangers and adequately clears all vehicular traffic and storage shelves. The Heater should be mounted so that obst ructions which deflect airflow are kept to a minimum. Heaters should blow towards or along exposed wall surfaces and are best loc at ed as c los e t o t he w orking area as possible.
SUSPENSION MOUNT ING
The (D,H)FP - PV Unit Heaters are provided with threaded pipe hangers to simplify hanging. Be sure the supporting members have adequate strength and stability to support the weight of the Heating Unit shown on the specification page. Connect these hangers to suspended pipes with unions and couplings. Spacing between pipes should match the hanger spacing. Pipes should be sized to match the hanger size and long enough to allow for clearanc es .
ASSEMBLY OF T W O - PIECE UNITS
This procedure covers t he required f ield as s em bly of XE/EM units.
1. HB (HIGH BOY) UNITS
a) Place heat section on t op of f an s ec t ion s o t he heat section is 1/2" (13) behind the
fan section.
b) Carefully slide the heat section forward until the back and sides of the heat and fan
section are flush. This will lock the two pieces together at the back as the locking clip engages. Do not damage foam t ape w hic h ac t s as air s eal bet ween sections.
c) Remov e fan sec tion door, t hen lift t he front of t he heat s ection and block the front
open about 4" (102).
d) Feed the motor wires through between the sections and allow the wire to hang in the
fan compartment .
e) Lower the heat sect ion bac k onto t he f an s ec t ion. Check alignment of pieces t hen
drive sheet metal s crews up from t he fan sec tion into t he heat s ection. Holes are provided in fan section at front sides fo r loc at ing sc rews. Make sure the motor wires are not pinched between sec t ions - but f eed s m oot hly from one t o ot her.
f) The unit is now one piece locked together at the rear by a clip and at front by two
sheet metal sc rew s . g) Follow wiring diagram on the unit to c onnec t m ot or w ires t o m ot or. h) Inspect and test elec t ric al c om ponent s and m ot or operat ion.
2. CF (COUNT E R FLO W) UNIT S
a) Place fan section on top of heat section so the fan section is 1/2" (13) forward of heat
section. b) Carefully slide the fan section back until the bac k and sides of t he heat fan section
are flush. This will lock the two pieces together at the back as the locking clip
engages. Do not damage foam t ape w hic h ac t s as air s eal bet ween sections. c) Remov e outer fan door, vent pipe, s hipping cardboard and inner fan door. Drive
sheet metal sc rew s f rom f an s ection into heat sec t ion. Holes are prov ided in t he
front vestibule at s ides f or loc at ing t w o s heet metal screw s .
