Instructions for Battery Replacement - Apple iPod™ 5th Generation
These instructions come with no warranty or guarantee. Improper assembly or use of excessive force may result in damage to your iPod™. The buyer assumes full responsibility for damages or problems caused by use of these instructions. Installing this battery requires a moderate level of technical ability
and proficiency in the use of hand tools as well as a general understanding of electronic components.
Step 1
Insert a plastic iPod™ opening tool in the seam between the plastic front and metal back of the
iPod™. Once you've inserted the tool, run it along the seam to free the tabs holding the iPod™ together.
Step 2
The iPod™ casing is now open, but there are two ribbon cables connecting the rear panel to the rest of the iPod™. Use the plastic tool to slide up the brown connector holding the orange battery ribbon in place. You only need to lift the brown locking bar up about 2mm to free
the cable.
Step 3
Slide the orange battery ribbon out of its connector. Place the rear panel next to the iPod™, being careful not to strain the orange cable.
Step 4
Lift the hard drive up with one hand so you can access the headphone jack ribbon beneath. Flip up the brown plastic tab holding the headphone jack ribbon in place. The brown tab will rotate up 90 degrees, releasing the ribbon cable.
Step 5
Slide the orange headphone jack ribbon out of its connector. The rear panel is now free from the iPod™. Find the battery and replace.
Your new battery will need a minimum of three hours charge time before its first use.
