INTENDED USE
This charger is designed for charging a variety of 12V lead acid batteries widely used in cars, such as normal lead acid, sealed lead acid, gel, AGM and deep cycle batteries whose capacity ranges from 14Ah to 230Ah.
The specialized design of the device, which is so called “the 9 stages charging characteristic”, permit the battery to be recharged to almost 100% capacity. It also makes it possible to connect the charger to the battery permanently when the car or battery is not in use. This keeps it always in perfect state without damaging it.
Furthermore, this device is controlled by a 12-bit AD microprocessor in it, which make it more smart and reliable. Compared with normal battery charger, this device contains a special function of rescuing dead battery, with which, a deep discharged battery can be charged up again.
Full protections against wrong connection and short circuit ensure the charging operation is very safe.
By the electronic switch embedded in the charger, the charger will act immediately when a battery is connected to it and the AC is plugged in. This gives the user the opportunity to build in the charger permanently in the vehicle and just start it by plugging in the AC power cord.

FEATURES
Automatic and Intelligent 9-Stage Charging Characteristic
The AS1210 is controlled by a 12-bit AD microprocessor with 9-stage charging characteristic for charging batteries automobiles, motorcycles, snow mobiles, tractors, personal watercraft, boats etc.
A microprocessor senses the condition of the battery and controls the regulator to provide the right current and voltage to the battery (charging characteristic). This will give the best effect on charging and give the longest life to battery.
Charging characteristic:
Diagnosis & Recovery: Initial battery test to determine battery condition. If in normal condition (battery voltage >10.5V±0.25V) the pulse charging will be skipped and charging starts with Bulk charging. If the battery is severely discharged ("dead", battery voltage <10.5V±0.25V), the charger changes to pulse charging mode in order to rescue most of dead batteries. In this mode the battery will be charged with 1,5A and 3.5A charging impulses until reaching the normal condition of 10.5V±0.25V and then continues with bulk charging
Bulk: Major charging stage where the battery receives the majority of its charge. During this stage the battery brought to 80% of its capacity. The AS1210 charger delivers current from 7.0A to 3.0A.
Absorption: Completes the charge up to virtually 100% at a constant current of
1.5A
Trickle Charge: Trickle charging at constant voltage, keeping the batteries at 100% charge. When 100% charged the AS1210 goes into maintenance mode to test the battery and if necessary repeats the charging.
Temperature Compensation
A sensor will automatically adjust the charging current if the temperature deviates from 0°C to +40°C. If the charger is too hot for some reason, it will reduce the output power automatically to protect itself from damaging.

Reverse-polarity protection
This unit offers reverse-polarity protection, the RED “REVERSE” LED will illuminate and the charging process will not start. If this happens, unplug immediately from mains, connect the red crocodile clip to positive (+) battery post, and black crocodile clip to negative (-) post, then plug into the mains power and the charging process will start.
Short-circuit protection
Should you accidentally touch the crocodile clips together whilst the mains power is on, the unit will not perform charging. Unplug from mains, disconnect and start the process again being careful not to touch the clips together.
Battery connection
The AS1210 has two options for connecting the unit to the battery:
O-ring connectors for permanent fixation on your battery.
Crocodile clamps for easy and flexible use. Please connect the rings to the clamps.
OPERATION
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE USING
Suitable for 12V normal lead acid, sealed lead acid, gel, AGM and deep cycle batteries between 14 - 230Ah and with 230VAC 50/60Hz circuit.
Preparing the battery
Make sure you have a 12V normal lead acid, sealed lead acid, gel, AGM and deep cycle battery and read battery user manual carefully.
First remove the caps from each cell and check that the level of the liquid is sufficient in each cell. If it is below the recommended level, top up with de-ionized or distilled water.
Note: Under no circumstances should tap water be used. The cell caps should not be replaced until charging is complete. This allows any gases formed during charging to escape. It is inevitable that some minor escape of acid will occur during charging.
For permanently sealed battery, it is not necessary to carry out the above checks.
Cleaning your battery terminals. Take care to keep corrosion from coming in contact with your eyes.
Be sure area around battery is well ventilated in charging process. When battery is being charged you may notice bubbling in the fluid cause by battery generated explosive gases during charging duration.
Connecting
Connect the positive charging lead (red) to the positive terminal post of the battery (marked P or +). Connect the negative charging lead (black) to the negative terminal post of the battery (marked N or -). It is important to ensure that both DC clamps are making good contact with their respective terminal posts.
When using the AS1210 as a charger for car batteries installed in the car please do not connect the minus „-“ directly with battery but on the chassis of the car. Please make sure that the AC plug is not plugged in. The power has to be disconnected. Please then connect the positive charging lead (red) to the positive terminal post of the battery. As a next step please connect the negative charging lead (black) with the

chassis of the car. Please use a piece of metal or screw remote from the battery or fuel line.
When you are sure the battery leads are correctly placed, connect the power cord to the power outlet. Once you have connected the AS1210 battery charger to AC power, the power LED will light up. When connected to the rating supply, the device will reset itself automatically at the very beginning, and stays at standby state if there is no battery connected by the user.
The flashing of the charging LED’s ”CHARGING” will now indicate charging (depending on the charging stage) or the permanent illumination of the LED “FULL” will indicate that the battery is fully charged.
Reverse Polarity
If the DC battery clamps are connected improperly to the battery terminals, the reverse polarity LED will indicate the reversed polarity. If this occurs simply disconnect the battery charger from the AC power. Connect the DC clamps correctly to the battery terminals. Reconnect the charger to the AC power.
Pulse rescue dead battery
When being connected to a battery and starting the charging course, the charger detects the voltage of the battery automatically and then changes to pulse charging mode (recovery mode) if the voltage is within the range of from 4.5V±0.5V to 10.5V±0.25V for 12V battery. This pulse charging course won’t stop until the battery voltage rises to
10.5V±0.25V.
If pulse charging rescued battery over 7 hours the battery voltage below 10.5V±0.25V for 12V battery, the charger will return to Standby mode.
Once the battery voltage has reached the value of 10.5V±0.25V, the charger changes to the normal charging mode and now the battery can be charged up fast and safely. Through this method, most of dead batteries can be rescued.

Abnormality protection
Whenever appears one of the following abnormal occasions, the charger will turn off the electronic switch and resets the system immediately to avoid damage:
Short circuit
Recovery mode over 7 hours
Bulk charging over 41 hours
12V battery voltage below 4.5V±0.5V
Open circuit
Reverse connection of the output terminals
If there is no further order received, the system will remains in the standby state of power mode. Additionally, once reverse connection happens, the reverse connection LED will be on to indicate the mistake.
When charging is complete
Switch off the mains supply, unplug the charger, and disconnect the leads from the battery posts. Inspect the liquid levels in each cell and top up. If necessary, using the correct fluid. Replace the caps. Any surplus fluid around the cell tops should be wiped off (this should be done with extreme care as it may be acidic/corrosive). Where appropriate, if the battery has been removed for charging, replace it and reconnect the cables.
MAINTENANCE AND CARE
It is essential to keep your battery regularly charged throughout the year, especially during the winter months. In the winter the effectiveness of your car battery is reduced by the cold. Oil is thick, engines are difficult to start and the heater, windscreen wipers and lights are all draining power. It is at this time that batteries have to be at peak power. If your battery is not regularly maintained and kept fully charged, it can cause problems and a possible breakdown.
Listed are some helpful hints on how to keep your battery healthy in conjunction with your battery charger.
Faulty Cells
Batteries are usually made with six cells. One of these cells can deteriorate or get damaged. If, after several hours charging your battery is still flat, you should test the battery. Take hydrometer readings from each cell in the battery. If one reading is lower than the others, this could indicate a faulty cell. If necessary, get an auto-electrician to
enduro® AS1210 10
Ref: AS1210-UM-TKI-0412-Rev.A.
check your battery. One faulty cell is enough to ruin your battery. It is pointless to continue using it and you would be better getting a new one.
Care
Sometimes the battery may appear flat, but this could simply be dirty or loose connections on your battery terminals. It is important to maintain the leads on a regular basis. Do this by removing the leads from the battery, clean the inside of each connector and terminal posts on the battery, smear the terminal posts and connectors with Vaseline, refit in there correct positions and tighten firmly.
It is essential to keep the electrolyte level above the plates.
Note, however, that you should not overfill it, as the electrolyte is strongly acidic. When topping up do not use tap water. Always use distilled or de-ionized water. It is important to keep the acid level up. If necessary have it checked by your garage.
Checking the condition of your battery
Using a hydrometer, which can be purchased, from most motor accessory stores, you can check the specific gravity of the electrolyte in each cell. The hydrometer is use to suck up a quantity of fluid from the cell. The weighted float inside the hydrometer will register the condition of that cell. Put the fluid back into the cell after testing, taking care not to splash the fluid about.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Waste electrical products should not be disposed of with household waste. Please recycle where facilities exist. Check with your local authority or retailer for recycling advice.
