Setting up the Xmidi 1x
Connect the Xmidi 1x1 to your computer using the attached USB connector. If you use a hub, it must be powered.
When properly connected, the Xmidi 1x1 Power LED illuminates when your computer is on and awake. Windows users MUST install the Xmidi 1x1 drivers from the included CD.
Windows XP Drivers
To install your E-MU Xmidi 1x1 interface on Windows XP:
Connect the Xmidi 1x1 to your computer
1. using the USB connector.
Insert the CD labelled “Software/Manual
2. Installation.”
When the “Welcome to E-MU Software
3. Setup” dialog box appears, follow the on­screen instructions.
If you encounter the “Windows Logo-
4. Testing” warning screen, click Continue Anyway.
When prompted, restart your computer.
5. Your Xmidi 1x1 is now ready to use.
Mac OS X Drivers
You don’t need to install any drivers for Mac OS X. Simply connect the Xmidi 1x1 to your computer using the USB connector.
The Xmidi 1x1 will appear as a MIDI Device with one In and one Out port in your Audio MIDI Setup utility. Create and connect the ap­propriate devices in the Audio MIDI Setup Utility.

Using the Xmidi 1x
The Xmidi 1x1 has one MIDI In and one MIDI Out Port.

MIDI In Connector (blue)
1. Connect a MIDI device’s output to this 5-pin DIN connector.
MIDI Out Connector (black)
2. Connect a MIDI device’s input to this 5-pin DIN connector.
MIDI Activity LEDs
3. These LEDs Illuminate when activity occurs on the corresponding input or output.
Power LED
4. This LED Illuminates when the Xmidi 1x1 is receiving power via USB.
USB Connector
5. Plug the USB Connector into your computer.
Applications
The Xmidi 1x1 works with any application that requires/utilizes MIDI.

In software such as Steinberg Cubase or Cake­walk Sonar, the Xmidi 1x1 In and Out ports will appear as:

In most audio applications, the Xmidi 1x1 ports should appear as the name of whatever device you attached to them in the Audio MIDI Setup utility.
Uninstalling
Windows XP users should make sure the device is unplugged from the computer before running the uninstaller.
