SPECIFICATIONS
Pressure-Temperature Rating: Shell; ASME Class 600 (PN 100) B16.34. Operating Pressure max.; 600 psig (41 bar). Operating Temperature max.; 650F (343C). Test Pressure max.; 800 psig (55 bar)
Nominal Venting Capacity:
1.25 Actual cu ft/min. (0.6 Lit/sec) venting to atmosphere based on a minimum pressure of 15 psig.
Failure Position: Vent fails open upon bellows failure.
End Connections: In-line ½”, ¾” NPT (DN 15, 20) per ASME B1.20.1.
Installation Position: Vertical with discharge down.
Special Features: Integral Screen.

All pressures are gauge
APPLICATION
Series AV-5 vent has been designed to remove air and non-condensables from steam lines.
OPERATION
The vent operates by means of a thermostatic bellows which opens and closes an interval valve in response to temperature changes. Steam is prevented from discharging through the vent, and only subcooled non-condensables are discharged.
MAINTENANCE
AV-5 vent is permanently assembled; no maintenance other than flushing or removing material from the screen is recommended.
WARNING
Hot discharge from this product may cause severe burns. Discharge must be piped away or directed sothat persons in the vicinity are not endangered. This product must be isolated, vented and cool to the touch before repairing or inspecting.
TROUBLESHOOTING
AV-5 vent is permanently assembled; no maintenance other than flushing or removing material from the screen is recommended.
Air vent to pass subcooled gases: a. Check integral strainer for clogging.
Rush or remove material clogging strainer
Air vent blows live steam: a. Dirt on valve seating area. b. Worn valve seat. Replace the air vent. c. Failed bellows. Replace the air vent.

Any malfunction of this product must be reported to the service department. Repair made to the product by unauthorized personnel will void the warranty.

Our product is manufactured as an “end product.” If the product is a weld end the following applies:

The dust or fumes can cause irritation of the respiratory tract, nose, throat, skin and eyes. It may cause temporary or permanent respiratory disease in a small percentage of exposed individuals. Use moderate ventilation when grinding or welding. Avoid breathing dust, fumes or mist. Avoid prolonged skin contact with dust or mist. Maintain dust levels below OSHA and ACGIH levels. Use protective devices. Wash hands thoroughly after contact with dust before eating or smoking.
