HOW I T WORKS
The Fil ter uses spe cial sand to rem ove dirt par ticle s fro m p ool wa ter . Fi lter san d i s loade d i nto the filt er tan k t o a ct as the fil trati on media . T he pool wat er whi ch con tains dirt p artic les is pumpe d thro ugh yo ur pip ing s ystem to t he filte r via the f ilter cont rol v alve. As pool water pass es th rough the f ilter , dir t par ticle s wil l be c aught by th e san d bed and f ilt ered out . The cle aned pool wa ter is retur ned from the bot tom of the F ilter Tan k, thro ugh the contr ol valv e and bac k to the po ol thro ugh your pi ping sy stem. Th e e ntire pro cess is c ontin uous an d auto matic . It is thi s proce ss tha t provi des th e filtr ation and cir culat ion of w ater i n you r pool. Wit h th e fi ltrat ion proc ess, dirt wil l ac cumul ate and bec omes satu rated in the f ilter tan k. P res sure in t he tan k w ill incr ease and th e r esist ance of wat er flow wil l occ ur. Thi s mea ns it is time to cl ean (back wash) you r filt er. An other i ndica tion t o know when t o clean (ba ckwas h) th e fil ter i s b y che cking the pres sure gau ge re ading . Bac kwash ope rati on sho uld b e per forme d wh en t he p ressu re incre ases by 10p si abo ve the pre ssure wh en it was cl ean. Typ icall y a cle an fi lter w ill r un at 10 to 15ps i, so take not e of t he pre ssure gauge r eadin g when t he fil ter was insta lled. STA RT-UP P ROCED URE
1 Be sure the c orrec t am ount of fi lter sand medi a is in
the tan k and all conn ectio ns h ave been made and are s ecure .
2) Turn the Control Valve handle to the “Backwash” position .
Press the hand le downward before tur ning.
3) S tart the pump acc ording t o pump in structi on manua l
(be sur e all suctio n and return l ines are op en).
4) O nce w ater f low i s stea dy out the w aste line, run t he
pum p for at least 2 m inute s. Th e in itial back washi ng of th e filte r is reco mmende d to remo ve any i mpuri ties or fi ne sand p artic les in th e sand me dia.
5) Turn t he pu mp of f and set the c ontro l val ve to RINS E
pos ition . Sta rt pu mp an d ope rate until wate r in sight gla ss is clear abou t ½ to 1 min ute. T urn p ump o ff, se t valv e to F ILTER p osition and r estart pump. Your f ilter is now operating in the normal filter mode, fi lteri ng pa rticl es and d irt fro m the poo l water .
6) Tak e n ote of the ini tial pre ssure g auge rea ding for
fut ure refer ence. Va riati on m ay occur fro m p ool to poo l.
7) Adjus t pool suct ion an d ret urn va lves to ac hieve
desi red flow. Check syst em an d fi lter for water leaks and tig hten conn ections , bolts, nut s as require d.
NOT E: Durin g t he init ial clea n-up of the p ool wate r, it may be nec essar y to ba ckwas h fr equen tly due to the unu suall y heavy i nitia l dirt lo ad in the w ater.
