1.0 OVERVIEW

The SD104 is a high performance digital video signal distributor. It features 1

input and 6 outputs adapted at 75Ω.

Various features of this distributor make it a unique product, as yet unequalled on
the market:

-Automatic PLL for 143, 177, 270 and 360Mbit/sec

-High accuracy in the input and outputs ret. loss

-Autosensing circuit for fault monitoring

-Able to compensate 220m of RG59DS cable

-Regenerated and reclocked outputs

-On board SDI to Pal converter (DOP107, optional)

The distributor consists of a plug-in and of a separate rear part denominated
DRB104 on which the connectors for link-up to the external world are fitted. The
DRB104 is an integral part of the supply.

A conversion board that provides a PAL signal in output can be fitted on the plug­in. The conversion board, known as DOP107, must be ordered separately.

The plug-in and the rear part must be inserted in the ELPRO 19" 3RU standard
rack with code DVR-MV/RK.

2.0 PRESETTINGS

The unit has no internal presettings.

At the center of the plug-in, there is a 12-pin connector in which to insert an
optional board, the DOP107.

This board converts the SDI signal at 270Mbit/sec, entering the SD104, providing
a Pal signal output.

The Pal signal is available on the BNC connector identified as MON fitted on the
DRB104 rear part.

DOP 107

3.0 INDICATIONS

The SD104 features four indicator lights on the front panel:

3.1 ON :The ON light switches on when the plug-in is powered
correctly and the internal voltages are correct. A sensing
circuit on the internal power supplies switches off the ON
light if one of these is not at rated value.

3.2 SDI :Lights up if there is a 270Mbit/sec digital signal in input

3.3 FAULT (Alarm) :The FAULT light switches to indicate a fault in the circuit
that affects correct functioning.

The SD104 is fitted with an autosensing circuit for permanent monitoring of the
correct level of the work points of the circuitry. If one of these levels is not within
tolerance, the light switches on.
This function is very useful when many SD104 are fitted in an array as it permits
immediate identification of the faulty unit.

3.4 OUT PAL :The OUT PAL light switches on to indicate that the

option board is fitted on the plug-in.

4.0 INSTALLATION

The unit must be installed in a DVR-MV/RK rack

WARNING

The presence of the SD104 is compatible

with other plug-ins of the 100 family

1) Fasten the DRB104 rear part to the rear of the rack and connect the input and
output signals.

WARNING

If the DOP107 option board is fitted,

the Pal output will be present on the MON BNC connector

2) If it has been purchased separately, insert the DOP107 option on the
SD104

plug-in. Make sure that the notch on the DOP107 fits into the specific

hole

provided on the SD104 plug-in. Fasten with the 3X6 screw provided.

3) From the front panel of the rack, insert the SD104 plug-in so that the

connector

fitted is inserted in the edge connector present on the rear part of the DRB104.

WARNING

Remember that SD104 can manage signals with a rate of

between 143Mb/s and 360Mb/s. Phase looking of the internal PLL

is automatic and without external presettings

The SD104 is fitted with a circuit that automatically compensates losses of the
cable that carries the signal to its input. The six outputs are reclocked.

WARNING

Compensation of a section of 220 m

is assured using RG59DS cable

4) Power on The DVR-MV/RK.
Automatically either the plug-in SD104 is supplied.
Check that the led ON is switched on

6.0 NOTES

This product is warranted for 2 years from the date of purchase.

If the fault in the product is due to improper use or operations

carried out by third parties, the warranty is forfeited.

During the warranty period, Elpro will repair the faulty units free of charge.

The faulty units must be sent CARRIAGE FREE to the Elpro offices in Turin
with a regular accompanying note.

The units repaired will be returned CARRIAGE FORWARD to the addressee.

Outside the warranty period, Elpro will repair the faulty units EX its Turin offices,
charging the cost of the repair to the customer.

If the input is already connected to an SDI signal either the SDI led must be
switched on.

SDI outputs are available on the BNC connectors OUT 1÷6
