INSTALLA TION
The ELK-SWB box may be flush or surface mounted. Flush mounting is ideal for hollow frame walls with studs on 16” centers. The minimum rough opening is 14.25” wide, 26.5” high, 3.5” deep. The SWB can be adjusted for varying wall finish thicknesses and the sturdy “lift-off” door extends out beyond the box edges to conceal uneven and rough edges. It’s universal design features a rail mounting system that allows it to accomodate shelves, brackets, wire modules and equipment from many different manufacturers.
NEW CONSTRUCTION ROUGH-IN
A) Pilot drill 1/8” holes on the left and right studs approximately 64”
up from the floor and 1” from the front edge. This allows for 1/2” wall finish (sheetrock, etc.) with room for adjustment.

C) If desired, install an electrical outlet in the rectangular knockout on
the lower flange. A standard one gang electrical “J” box is mounted using #6 Flat Head Self-Tapping Screws (not included)
E) To adjust the box after wall surface is completed, loosen the 4
mounting screws and move box until a #16D nail can be placed into each of the 4 front edge holes. Gently press the box until the nails touch the wall surface. Tighten the mounting screws and remove the nails.
D) Install wires through one or more of the entry holes. Optional
ELK-SWF Blank Filler Plugs may be cut or drilled for use as wire grommets or to fill any unused holes. The design of the SWB allows wires to be organized along the sides as well as between the mounting rails and behind the wire termination modules.

H) Cover installation requires holding the cover vertically with about a 5 degree backward tilt. Slide the two tabs on the lower back side of the cover
into the slots on the lower inside edge of the box. Push the top of the cover against the box and then gently lift the door straight up about 1/2” to allow the top inside tabs to clear the top edge and align with their slots. Lower the cover straight down. The cover can be secured to the box using four #10 screws (not supplied) or by using an optional Camlock. Order p/n ELK-SWC.
