INTRODUCTION
The Model XP-85 is a solid-state DC power supply, continuously variable
from 5-15VDC. The unit is precisely held to the desired output voltage by
a special regulating circuit. Current capability is up to 2.5A. The unit
features a fail-safe automatic overload protection circuit. Maximum output
current is externally adjustable from .1 to 2.5A. An overload indicating
lamp glows with current approaches limiting conditions. This circuit is
designed to protect the power supply against shorts or excessive current
demand. It also protects the equipment from possible damage due to
high surge current. This supply is ideal for use in labs, service shops, CB
radios, mobile equipment or anywhere a precise DC voltage is required.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Place the equipment in the OFF position. Connect the positve lead of your
equipment to the red output terminal and the negative lead to the black
terminal.
2. Check the voltage rating of the equipment to be powered. Care must be taken
no to exceed this rating.
3. Plug the line cord into a 120VAC, 60Hz outlet. The ON/OFF switch is located
on the left side. When the unit is turned ON, the switch will light up.
4. The output DC voltage is adjusted by the output voltage control. This control
sets the regulators to any desired voltage of 5 to 15V. Load variations will hav
practically no effect on the voltage setting due to the special regulation circuit.
5. Adjust the current limiting control to maximum counter-clockwise position.
Switch your equipment ON. The overload light will glow if more than 100
milliamps is drawn. Increase this control until the light goes out and stays out
during normal use. Your equipment is now protected from high current surges.
An alternate method of adjusting current limiting is to short the output and
adjust the current to a desired value. Remove the short. This will now limit the
current to your setting.

All Elenco models are guaranteed for two full years on all
parts and service. For the first 3 months, your power supply
is covered at absolutely no charge. For the remaining 21
months, a nominal service charge is required to cover
shipping and handling.
When returning merchandise for repair, please include
proof of purchase, a brief letter of explanation of
problem, and sufficient packing material. Before
returning any merchandise please call our service

authorization number (RMA).
