Using the Product

Charging the SmarTest Unit

SmarTest comes with a lithium-ion battery. Prior to
first use, the battery must be charged using the USB
charge r and th e Micr o USB c able s uppl ie d with t he
gauge.

Installing the SmarTest APP via “Google Play
Store” on your Mobile Device

Use a QR code re ad er t o sca n th e be low QR code.
The SmarTest App will be shown in the “Google
Play Store“. Select “Install”.
As an alternative, you can select “Play Store” on the
Apps scr een of your mobile devi c e.

Enter “S mar tes t” i n t he keyw o rd sear ch . Th en sel ect
the SmarTest App from the list and press “install”.

Connecting SmarTest to your Mobile Device

The Bluetooth connection from the SmarTest to
your mobile device (smartphone , tablet) must be es­tablished once.
Switch on the SmarTest. Press ON/OFF-key until
the Green LED lights up and the LED star ts fla shing
alternately between green and red.
Select “S ett ings ” f rom the A pps sc ree n of yo ur mo­bile device followed by „Bluetooth ON“. Activate
Bluetooth, e.g. by sliding the Bluetooth switch to the
right. Then select “scan”. Recognized devices will
be listed accordingly. Select your SmarTest device
from the list for connecting, e.g. S131334 (S+Serial
number).
No Bluetooth authorization will be required. Smar­Test is no w connected to your mobile d evice and
shown on the list of “Paired devices”. SmarTest is
now ready for use.

How to take Readings:

Switch on the SmarT est. The LED start s flas hing al ­ternately between green and red.
Select “SmarTest” from the Apps screen to open the
SmarTest App. Your mobile device will automati­cally connect to the SmarTest wireless sensor via
Bluetooth. The green SmarTest LED starts flashing
at intervals of 3 seconds.

Note: Make sure to switch on the SmarTest wireless
sensor within 30 seconds after t he SmarT est App
has opened, otherwise the S martTest Ap p w ill close
automatically.
To start coating thickness measurement, place the
SmarTest sensor onto the measur ing sample. Once
the sensor is in contact with the sample, the green
SmarTest LED lights up for 0.5 sec onds and the
reading is shown on the SmarTest App of your mo­bile device.
For further details regarding calibration, for in­stance, please refer to the instructions provided by
the Smar Test App. Just c lick the “?” i con of your
SmarTest App to go to the instructions accordingly.

Switching OFF the SmarTest wireless Sensor
and close the SmarTest App

Press the ON/OFF button of the SmarTest sensor
and hold for about 2 seconds un til the red LED ligh ts
up. This action will also close down the SmarTest
App. As an alternative, you c an also clo se down the
App via the menu item “Exit app”. This action will
also swit ch of f the Sm arTest senso r. The red LE D
will light up for about 0.5 seconds to confirm the
switch-off.
