IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
Carefully read these instructions
• The appliance is provided with a temperature regulator, a thermofuse and a safety plug. It complies with European standards regarding electrical household appliances.
• Check that the voltage indicated on the plate corresponds with that of the local network before connecting the appliance to the supply mains.
• Always plug the appliance into a grounded outlet.
• Do not leave the appliance exposed to the weather (rain, sun, etc.).
• Before using the appliance, ensure that the objects , surfaces and fabrics to be cleaned are resistant to or compatible with the high temperature of the steam.
In particular, follow the directions pro vided by the man uf acturer and carry out a test on a hidden part or a sample before using the appliance on carpets and hard floors, wooden surfaces or delicate fabrics such as silk and velvet.
•Never leave the appliance unattended when it is connected to the electric network.
• When using the flexible pipe (15), before releasing the steam, direct the jet into a container so as to remove the condensate from the pipe.
• Do not tilt the appliance more than 45° from its upright position while it is being used in order to prevent hot water from leaking out of the boiler tank.
•Avoid directing the jet of steam towards people, animals or equipment with electrical components.
• Do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids.
• Always unplug the appliance when you fill the boiler tank with water.
•Never leave the appliance within the reach of children or unable persons.
•Never add descaling agents, aromatics, alcoholics or detergents to the water in the boiler - they may damage the appliance or make it unsafe to use.
Do not touch hot surfaces while the appliance is being used. Allow the attachments
to cool down before replacing them.
Attention: before unscrewing the cap (3), carry out the following operations:
- unplug the power cord from the outlet
- slowly unscrew the cap (3) and wait for a few seconds before unscrewing it completely.
ATTENTION: before removing the flexible tube (15), proceed as follows:
- disconnect the plug and lead from the electrical mains socket;
- leave the appliance to cool down for several minutes;
- press the steam button (4) and direct the jet of the pistol (2) into a recipient until all steam and/or water has been ejected;
- rotate the tube and remove it slowly from the appliance.
•WARNING: do not use the glass-cleaning brush if the surface to be cleaned is v ery cold. The change in temperature could cause the glass to crack. At times when temperatures are particularly low, preheat the glass by directing steam over the whole surface to be treated from a distance of about 40 cm.
• Do not use the appliance if it is damaged. An y repair work, including the replacement of the power cord, must only be carried out by Electrolux Service Agent or by Electrolux authorized technicians - as a special tool is required - in order to prevent any risk.

The Steam Gun is designed as a complete change from old methods of traditional cleaning. This appliance is designed as a multi-purpose cleaner with a variety of applications.

BEFORE YOU START CHECK THE VOLTAGE
First check the voltage shown on the data plate (see rear view) to make sure that the cleaner is of the correct voltage for your electricity supply. If it is not, do not use the cleaner but refer back to the retailer.
CONNECTING TO YOUR ELECTRICITY SUPPLY
Permanently connected to the cleaner is a mains supply (2-core) cable fitted with a non-rewirable plug incorporating a 13A fuse. In the event of the fuse requiring replacement the fuse cover should be removed using a small screwdriver. The old fuse MUST be replaced by a 13A ASTA approved BS1362 fuse or a BSI approved fuse. The cover must be replaced before the plug is used again. In the event of loss of the fuse cover, replacements can be obtained from your Electrolux dealer or Electrical Retailers and must be of the same colour as indicated by the coloured insert on the base of the plug. If difficulty is experienced in obtaining a replacement, contact Electrolux on 08706 055055.
In no circumstances must the plug be used without a correct fuse cover fitted.
If the plug that is fitted to your appliance is not suitable for your socket outlet, it must be cut off and the appropriate plug fitted.Remove the fuse from the cut off plug.The cut off plug should then be disposed of to prevent the hazard of shocks in case it should be plugged into a 13 amp socket in another part of your home. The wires in the mains cable of this appliance are coloured in accordance with the following code: Blue:
Neutral. Brown: Live. Green/Yellow: Earth.
As the colours of the wires in the mains cable of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black. The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red. The wire which is coloured yellow and green must be connected to the terminal which is marked with a letter E or coloured yellow and green. It is in your interest to ensure that the plug is correctly attached to the mains cable. In case of doubt, have it done by a qualified electrician, as Electrolux cannot regard the repair of faults on the plug connection as a service that can be given free of charge under the terms of the guarantee.

WARNING If the mains supply cable becomes damaged during cleaning the following action should be taken:
1. Switch off and remove the plug from the socket outlet.
2. Examine the mains supply cable for damage (only after removing the plug from the socket outlet).
3. If there is any sign of damage to the supply cable it MUST be renewed. The repair MUST be carried
out by Electrolux Service Staff or a similar qualified person.
4. NEVER use the machine with a damaged mains supply cable. The wire which is coloured yellow and green must be connected to the terminal which is marked with a letter
E or coloured yellow and green.
Thermal Cut Off
This steam cleaner has a special thermostat that protects the cleaner in case of overheating. If the cleaner suddenly shuts off, push the switch pedal once and unplug the cleaner . Check the cleaner f or a possible source of overheating such as no water in the tank. If these conditions are found, fix them and wait at least 30 minutes before attempting to use the cleaner . After the 30 minute period, plug the cleaner back in and turn on the switch. If the cleaner still does not heat up , please call Electrolux on
08706 055055 if you reside in the UK.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
How to fill the boiler tank before use
NEVER UNSCREW THE BOILER T ANK’S CAP UNLESS YOU ARE SURE THAT THE APPLIANCE HAS BEEN UNPLUGGED FROM THE OUTLET.
Unscrew the safety cap (3) and overturn the boiler tank to drain it completely. Fill the boiler tank (figure A) with a measure (10) full of water by means of the funnel (11). Screw the safety cap (3) on again.

How to start the appliance
Before switching on the appliance, unwind the power cord (8) from its hook, removing the base (9) by turning it clockwise (Fig. B). It is not necessary to refit the base (9) before using the appliance. Plug the appliance into a mains socket; the indicator light (7) will switch on. The appliance will be ready to dispense steam after 3-4 minutes. Press the safety button (6) downwards to unlock the appliance and then press the button (4) to dispense steam. MOVE THE SAFETY BUTTON (4) UPWARDS TO PREVENT STEAM FROM BEING DISPENSED ACCIDENTALLY.
APPLICATION OF THE ATTACHMENTS
Straight nozzle:
-fully insert the attachment until it stops up against
the appliance’s body. Align the mark on the nozzle with the yellow mark on the appliance as shown in figure C;
-turn in a clockwise direction until the mark on the
nozzle is perfectly aligned with the two lines on the appliance’s body. Now the attachment is blocked in
the central position. Th Steam Gun is provided with an articulated joint which allows the jet of steam to be directed as desired:
- insert the straight nozzle until it covers the green
round gasket, align the mark on the nozzle with the yellow mark on the appliance’s body as shown in figure C.
- turn in a clockwise direction until the mark on the
nozzle is perfectly aligned with the two lines on the appliance’s body. Now y ou can direct the jet of steam as desired (Figure C).

Round brush and bent nozzle:
Both these attachments can be applied to the straight nozzle (Figure D and D/1) and the articulated nozzle (Figure E and F). Apply them to the hexagonal end and then choose the desired angle.

Flexible pipe, Brush for fabrics and glass wiper:
The flexible extension hose (15) must be attached to the articulated nozzle (2). Then apply the round brush (12), the angled nozzle (13) the straight nozzle (14) and then the upholstery nozzle (16) to the hexagonal end on the pipe. The upholstery nozzle is provided with a cloth that can be used for the cleaning of delicate surfaces such as sofas and armchairs, and with a glass wiper to be fitted as shown in figure G.

How to fill the boiler while the appliance is being used
When the water in the boiler tank has run out and you press the button (4) no steam will come out. To refill, carry out the following operations: a) unplug the appliance; b) wait for about 10 seconds; c) carefully unscrew the safety cap (3). Before unscrewing it completely wait for the
hissing noise created by residual steam to stop;
d) unscrew the cap completely and slowly pour a measure of water into the boiler by
means of the funnel (10). Take care not to let any water flow out of the tank during
this operation; e) screw the cap back on to the appliance; f) plug the appliance into an electrical outlet.

It is suggested that the additional cloth is used with the fabric tool when used on clothing, upholstery and curtains.
Window Cleaner
Straight Nozzle
Windows, mirrors, glass doors. Do not use on icy cold windows or glass, as the dramatic difference in temperature may cause it to break.
Angled Nozzle
Edging, window sills, ledges, tiles, mantles. Difficult to reach areas, toilet bowls, window sills.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Unplug the appliance from the outlet before carrying out any operation. Let the appliance cool down completely before putting it away or cleaning it. Refit the cord base (9) to the bottom section of the appliance, inserting the reference tabs into the relevant openings and turning it anticlockwise. Then rewind the power cord (8) (Fig. H). To ensure appliance’s best performance and long life, rinse out the boiler every month to remove any scale deposits. Do not use vinegar or other descaling agents.
