Natural Wicker Basket Installation Instructions

Designed to fit most adult bicycles with threaded headsets.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Easy

If you are not comfortable installing basket, please have it professionally installed by your Electra dealer.

1) Tools Needed

• Slotted screwdriver

• Phillips screwdriver

• 10mm open end or box wrench (or small
adjustable wrench)

• 32mm open-end wrench for bikes with 1”
headsets (or large adjustable wrench)

• 36mm open-end wrench for bikes with 1 1/8”
headsets (or large adjustable wrench)

• 6mm hex head wrench

2) Parts List

(1) Wicker basket
(2) Leather straps
(2) Nylon lock nuts
(2) 30mm long Phillips head machine screws
(4) Steel washers
(1) Steel inner plate (7cm wide x 1.8cm tall)
(1) Headset bracket for 1” headset-equipped

STEP 1: Installation of headset bracket

1) Remove stem/handlebar combination
using a 6mm hex wrench

2) Remove top nut using 32, 36mm or
adjustable wrench and set aside

3) Remove steel keyed washer (save for future
use if basket is no longer installed)

4) Install mounting bracket in place of key
washer, lip side faces up

5) Reinstall top nut using 32, 36mm or
adjustable wrench

6) Reinstall stem/handlebar combination
using a 6mm hex wrench

Note: Most Electra Cruiser models use 1”
headsets while steel-framed Amsterdam models
use 1” and aluminum-framed Amsterdam models
and Townie models use 1 1/8” headsets. If
mounting to a late-model Townie, it is necessary
to remove the conical headset spacer. Put
spacer aside for future use if basket is no longer
installed. If you are unsure of the size of your
headset, contact your local Electra dealer.

STEP 2: Attaching headset bracket to basket

1) Line up basket so that it the top edge sits
above the handlebar

2) Note position of headset bracket and punch
holes in the wicker that line up with the
bracket, using a screwdriver or similar

3) Push Phillips head bolt and washer through
the inner plate, wicker and headset bracket

4) Install 10mm nylon lock nuts, tighten

STEP 3: Threading leather straps through

wicker slats

1) Use a slotted screwdriver to spread the wicker

apart and push strap through from outside

2) For the top strap position, again use a slotted

screwdriver to spread the wicker apart, this time
from the inside

3) Buckle the strap on the outside of the basket
