consoles and AV equipment at a 1920 × 1080 resolu-

seem more natural thanks to an EIZO next-generation
integrated circuit originally developed for use in TVs.

Full High Defi nition
Next-Generation ASIC Achieves
Natural-Looking Images
The HD2441W uses a next-generation ASIC (Application Specifi c Integrated Circuit) specially developed by
EIZO for use in LCD TVs. This produces images that
look more natural by boosting contrast and reducing
blur around the edges of motion pictures.
3000:1 Dynamic Contrast
EIZOs ContrastEnhancer adjusts in real time the
brightness, gain, and gamma for images that are too

light or too dark to their ideal levels. With moving images it produces a dynamic contrast ratio of 3000:1,
resulting in deep blacks and more lifelike images.
Sharper Images with OutlineEnhancer
The OutlineEnhancer is a fi lter to sharpen any
blurred areas of an image. Filtering is done inside the
monitor rather than by software on the PC so OutlineEnhancer sharpens moving as well as still images in
real time. Seven degrees of adjustment are provided in
the OSD menu.

Rich Tonal Reproduction
While computer monitors display tones from pure
white to pure black in a range of 0 to 255, broadcast
media and entertainment equipment display these same
tones from 16 to 235. So when computer monitors are

connectors are provided
for connecting to the latest
HD entertainment equipment — which means the usual tangle of AV wires can
be switched for a single slim cable accepting audio and
video signals up to 1080p.
The HD2441W also minimizes artifacts that normally occur during interlace /progressive (I/P) conversion
Further Functionality and
Performance
Picture-in-Picture
Displaying content
from a PC on the main
screen while showing video
input on a sub screen, Picture-in-Picture lets you do
two things at once — such
as surfi ng the web while
watching a high-defi nition
DVD. The transparency and location of the sub screen can
be adjusted through the onscreen display menu.
Picture-in-picture mode
Artifacts present Artifacts minimized
by detecting the amount of change between frames and
applying the optimal degree of I/P conversion. And not
only does the HD2441W handle standard 480i to 480p
conversion, but more demanding 1080i to 1080p conversion as well — maintaining image quality while performing high-speed processing.
PC and Video Viewing Modes
Several viewing modes are available for both computer
and AV sources, allowing you to select the best settings
for each. For PCs, there’s a choice of Text, Movie, Picture,
sRGB and Custom (user-defi ned), as well as WindowMovie that displays media player software brighter than the
rest of the screen. For audio visual devices, there’s a choice
of Standard and Custom modes, as well as Soft mode for
movies and Dynamic mode for fast-action games.
Optimized Brightness
The BrightRegulator function detects changes in the
ambient brightness and signals the backlight to adjust
the screen brightness accordingly. This ensures the
screen is never too bright or too dark, thereby preventing
eye fatigue when playing games or watching videos.

used to display video or game content, images can often
look dull and washed out. The HD2441W, however, can
display video signals in the 16 to 235 range, so tones are
displayed exactly as intended.

16:9 Full Mode Eradicates Overscan
When you watch a TV broadcast or view video,
game or other content, you’re usually missing part of the
image. That’s because a process called “overscanning”
16:9 ful l mode16:9 “norm al” mode
crops the picture on all four sides to provide stable, undistorted viewing. This can take away as much as 10%
of the image — even when viewed at full HD resolution.
The HD2441W, on the other hand, features an industryfi rst 16:9 Full mode that eliminates cropping, allowing
the image to be seen in its entirety.
Images in Overdrive with Minimum Delay
An overdrive circuit reduces midtone response time
to 6 ms and helps prevent ghosting during moving picture playback. This circuit has minimal effect on “input
lag” or the difference between the time a signal is inputted into the monitor and then shown on screen. Gamers
can rest assured that their movements and those of their
opponent are virtually synchronous with what they see
on the screen.
Dual PC Inputs
A digital DVI-D
and an analog Dsub connector are
both included, so
two computers can be connected at the same time. The
DVI-D input also features high-bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP) for the viewing of content from
HDCP devices.

stream USB ports located at the side allow for connection
to two peripherals. This lets you use a single mouse and
keyboard, for example, to control both computers, and
cuts down on desktop clutter.
Single Audio Output for All Sound Sources
An audio output jack routes the
audio signal from any connected device
— computer, games console, HD DVD
player, etc. — to external speakers. This
further cuts down on cable clutter. Another jack is located on the side of the
monitor for connecting headphones.
